Hi all, After much dithering, I’ve finally accepted that my lovely Ducati 1198S probably ought to go to someone who will actually ride and enjoy it properly. I’ve owned it for just over 7 years and it has been absolutely fantastic, but the honest truth is it hardly gets used these days. I kept thinking I’d get back into riding it properly, but life keeps getting in the way, so it seems a shame for it to just sit there looking beautiful. It’s a proper 1198S, not a standard 1198 or 1098, so it has the good factory bits: Ohlins front forks Ohlins rear shock Ohlins steering damper Forged wheels Brembo monobloc brakes Ducati Traction Control It also has the carbon Termignoni exhaust system with factory ECU remap, taking output to approx. 180bhp. It looks and sounds exactly how a big Ducati superbike should. Because I wanted it properly prepared before selling, it has just had over £1,700 spent at Moto-R, including: Fresh Desmo valve shim check service New timing drive toothed belts Engine oil and filter New spark plugs Brand new Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres Brand new Yuasa YT12B-BS battery Brand new starter motor MOT preparation and general inspection The new starter and battery have made a huge difference — it now starts beautifully, with none of the slow/lazy cranking these big Ducati twins can sometimes suffer from. A few details: Ducati 1198S 22,421 miles Owned by me for just over 7 years Red with gold frame/wheels Full Ohlins suspension package Carbon Termignoni exhaust system Factory ECU remap, approx. 180bhp Fresh big-ticket service work just done Ready for summer It’s not a cheap neglected Ducati project, and it’s not being sold as one. It’s a properly prepared 1198S with the expensive Ducati worry-points recently dealt with. I’m asking just £6,995 now. Full AutoTrader advert is here: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/bike-details/202605212594597?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android-app Happy to answer any sensible questions. I’d much rather it went to someone who understands what it is and will enjoy it. Many thanks Note: Photos were just before all the recent Workshop Prep so much tidier now with it's new tyres etc. View attachment 356631
I had one of these a few years back, absolute animal ,and this looks like a bargain for someone - GLWS.
Cheers it has been an amazing machine, made my previous Fireblades look like a Moped!?.... Will really miss it but Life keeps getting in the way, hope it finds a fab new home for the next 7+ years with someone else who will love every second with it! Its properly sorted and ready to go for Summer now
Thanks for the kind comments, really appreciated Just to clarify one thing in case anyone is looking closely at the photos: they were taken at home before the final prep work was completed, so the tyres shown in the pictures are not the brand new Pirelli Diablo Rosso IIIs now fitted! The bike is currently still with Rich at Moto-R after the prep work, so the fresh service work, belts, tyres, battery and starter motor are all now done and documented. Happy to share that most recent invoice details (of the FSH) with any serious buyer, and I’m sure viewings/inspection can be arranged sensibly, inside in the dry if the British sun isn't out at the time! Thanks again for looking all.
Quick update on this one — I’ve just reduced the price to £6,995. I was hoping to hold nearer the original figure given the recent Moto-R prep, but it is currently taking up space at Rich’s workshop and I’d rather get it moved on to someone who will actually use and enjoy it. Still the same properly sorted 1198S: Fresh Desmo valve shim check service New timing belts New Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres New Yuasa battery New starter motor Moto-R invoice for the recent work Ohlins / Termignoni / ECU remap I can even throw in the rear padlock stand! Starts beautifully and ready for summer So not a neglected project bike — just now priced more realistically to get it moving. Happy to answer any sensible questions, and the AutoTrader advert is still here: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/bike-details/202605212594597?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android-app
Someone is going to get a cracking bike for a great price. If I had the space I'd be looking down the back of the sofa to have it myself!
