  1. Luke Plapp wins stage 8 from the breakaway and his first GT win.
    Chapeau to the aussie.

Visma doing a lot of work for the stage win throughout the day for not much reward (as did Tim Pidcock for GC).

Peloton including the pink jersey over 5 minutes down.

    Stunning stage

  2. Wout Van Aart wins the “mini Strade Bianchi” stage 9
Isaac del Torro and WVA broke the whole field through the gravel for a duel at the finish.
    Tuscany looked bloody glorious.

iDT takes the Maglia Rosa (for now…)

  4. After yesterdays rest day, Dan Hoole (NL) wins stage 10 and the second TT of this years event.

He beat Josh Tarling (winner of the first TT stage) by 21 seconds over the first sector. Ridiculous.

Back to the good stuff tmrw.

  5. Richard Carapaz wins stage 11 from Isaac del Torro.

Brutal stage including the 19% gradients of the San Pelegrino.

5 man breakaway caught with 10k to go including local hero Lorenzo Futunato (KOM jersey).

    Sensational stage

  7. WVA leads out Olav Koiij (Jumbo) in a sensational sprint finish to win stage 12 in Viadana.

Surprisingly few incidents in a stage that was flat as a pancake from 70k out.

  8. Mads Pedersen wins stage 13, his fourth stage of this years Giro and Lidl Treks 5th.

Fastest GT stage ever over 150km and a sprinter wins.

    Final 800m uphill with a 7.8% gradient.

Ridiculous, even from my relatively novice experience.

He has the points jersey wrapped up with over a week to go.

  9. Casper Asgreen wins stage 14 from the breakaway!!!

Crash at the front of the peloton with 20k to go coming off the greasy cobbles. Absolute carnage.

Ciccone (GC contender) looks like he’s done for this year. Ben turner and Egan Bernal for Ineos were limping badly too.

Jumbo Lease a Bike riders coming out the best along with the current pink jersey Isaac del Torro who’s made up another minute over Roglic.

Couldn’t catch Asgreen though who takes the win. Unreal effort.

We could have a Mexican Giro winner.

  10. Missed yesterday’s stage 15 as the reds were winning the league.

Lidl Trek took their 6th stage win with Carlos Verona going clear from the breakaway.

Roglic lost over a minute and a half from the other GC contenders.

Del Torro still in pink going into today’s rest day and the mountain stages ahead this week.

  12. Brutal day so far on stage16, not just the climbing but the weather which I thinks safe to describe as shit. Cold and very wet causing multiple crashes.

Martinelli (Bardiani) slid over the side of a mountain and had to be airlifted to safety, Josh Tarling (Ineos) crashed early on into a barrier and broke a collar bone and just now Primoz Roglic, pre race favourite have all crashed and withdrawn.

More to come id imagine with the three big climbs and 95k to go

  13. Christian Scaroni wins stage 16 from the breakaway and becomes the first Italian Giro stage winner after their “longest drought in history”.

Ayuso dropped on the second last mountain (Santa Barbara).

Isaac del Toro dropped on the final climb to make it a dreadful day for UAE.

Richard Carapaz takes big time on the pink jersey after bolting from the GC group with 8k to go. Now just 31 seconds back.

As does Simon Yates who remains second after also dropping del Toro. Now just 26 seconds back.

    Sensational stuff.

  14. It’s been a brilliant three weeks. Especially without a certain dominant Slovenian.

  16. Seems like we have a new Lazarus.

Isaac del Toro (in pink) who looked completely spent/destroyed yesterday, not only attacks the whole field at the start of stage 17, but sticks with the other GC contenders up the Mortirolo Pass and then goes on to win the whole bloody stage!

    Chapeau my mate x

As if this tour couldn’t get any better.
