  1. thanks Finm and CJ,, finm , my plumbing is about as good as my elecricary although i do understand what you are saying,, i can do all that just cant be bothered >> moving the car from the front of the garage, moving the Harley out of the shed ( raining now ) , pulling the Duc into middl of shed and then removing the bloody seat unit and fairing !!! and cert wont be dusturbing fuel pump if at all poss  , prob forget where it goes !!
CJ,, it does have , or had a datalog thing, the sticker is still on the frame tho dont know itf it is operative, good shout / possability, also had thot about a live wire onto the pump, but have not even lifted anything up to see what is there, maybe not even able to find correct terminal ,
    thanks guys for your help,:upyeah:

  2. For what they cost I would replace pump relay anyway even though its newish. Also check connectors and fuses. If it cuts out at a hundred and silly mph in outside lane it could be lethal.

  3. or 100 miles from home,,, actually it has missed a beat on two occasions, same day , just one miss each time and then ok,, i will have to trace it one day ..

  4. its not the cost it is the fkn hassle, i idi relocate it but just cant remember where, if it is at the top without naving to remove the whole box then that is not so bad

  5. I left the small self tappers off the heat shield, the batt box bolts hold it in place and I could see a struggle in years to come getting the little fkrs out.

  6. yep,,,, but i put them back in .

  7. oh btw,, started again this eve :grinning:

  8. @2 easy what Harley do you have?

  9. Fuses pull straight out, you can use needle nose pliers or most cars have a removal tool in the fuse box.
Relocated relay should be simple to get at on top of the box.

  10. not sure why you are askin but here it is

  12. ok,, finally got round to checking out the problem,, still no presurising sound, checked the two fuses beside the battery , ok,, the 4 under the fairing ok, are there any others i can check ?,, got the relay and the spare one both checked and ok ( glad i had it remounted at the top ! ) checked the wire connection under the tank, ok... so that s me fkd now,, dont know what else to do,, going to get a multi meter but dont know which wires to check, fraid of blowing something,, first thing i want is to check feed to the relay,, on the relay there are 4 spades, two big and 2 small, presumably two to power the relay and two for the flow, but which ones are which, anyone know ?,, and would it do any harm if i " tested " the wrong ones,,,nxt ( if i can find power to and from the relay ) is to check the connection under the tank, again 4 spades, 1 black , 1 red and 2 white, ( all small ) which one is power in and which one to connect power to to hot wire the pump,, i am presuming the pump ( presure unit ? ) is in the tank ,, anyone ??? ,, nxt step would be a van 150 mikles to Ducati glasgow,, fkn hassle !!

  13. you wont blow anything with a multi meter. just dont put the leads to AMPS

  14. Disconnect plug/lead to tank, work out which pins go to pump and see if there's power there. A bulb with wires soldered to it will work if you dont have a meter.
I've heard of the tank internal wires failing a couple of times.

  15. problem is there are 4 wires going to tank,, how am a i supposed to know which one is power in and which are returns !!! can i just run a wire with bulb from the all the wires individually to the earth on battery or is that a bad idea, i could check all four that way ,, maybe do the same with the relay connection ,,,

  16. need to do a crash course on multi meters ,, will check out halfords ( for lack of alternative ) theres a battery in a multimeter, yes ?

  17. yip, normally a calculator battery. buy a test light while yer at it.

  18. are all the wires the same gauge? you would normally expect the pump wires to be heavier, the others would be for the level or warning light.

  19. Wiring diagram in back of owners handbook.
2 wires are for pump, other 2 go to reserve light switch.(probably)
Not sure if you can see wire colours tho!

  20. Just looked at 999/999S 2005/6 handbook diagram and as far as I can tell br/w is live feed to pump whie any bk is neg-. The 2 bk wires join further in the loom. Presume br/w is brown white and bk is black, but theres no chart and this is multi lingo written in italy but seems to follow english colour abbreviations. The feed wire to reserve light switch is p/y pink or purple?/yellow probably.
