I never questioned what it is, just bought a tin as I was told by the workshop guys. That looks like the same stuff. The one time I didn't have some in the tool bag, I had to remove the fuel pump in the pit garage and I can tell you what a pain getting it assembled back together again. Andy
I had a dodgy fuse which prevented starting on my 999. Fuse was fine but it wasn't connecting to the fuseholder properly. A good wiggle sorted it. Are you any closer to Falkirk than Glasgow?
Yes a fair bit , I am in aberdeen , I gave all the fuses I could find a good shoogle with the ign on but still no priming
now before I go taking this pump out of the tank with the poss of it being a bitch to replace does anyone know ( for sure ) if I can test it , are the electrical connections accessible to hot wire ?
give it a directt feed via bridging out the fuel pump rely connection big pins. use a split pin or summit. if nothing. direct +- to the connector going to the pump from the main loom. disconnect pump connector first. might be handy to make a fuse link up first just incase. you can buy a fuse link for blade fuses for a couple of smackeroonies.
would try that but ( as in prev post ) it is not easy to find the correct wire feed into the tank as there are 4 in the plug !!
OMG,, WTF :Banghead: ,,,, , fkn thing started first time today,, just thot i would turn the key one last time before setting fire to it and " woosh ",, priming and started straight away ........ didnt do anything from last night but there she goes,,, dont know if i should be happy or not, very difficult to fix something which is not broken !!, but does not fill me with confidence, cant take it anywhere like this, could get stranded any time / place,, least if it is running i can drive it to DG and maybe they can find something on the diag machine . thanks boys for all your imput,,, just one last thing,, it has a Datatag sticker on it, so pres it had one fitted at some time,, anyone know where that is wired in,, maybe prob with that ?.
"Datatag" is not an electronic alarm it's a passive system using microscopic labeling, it won't be responsible for the issues you're having
yes i have bee in,, v nice,, i will try bridging the relay plug later but begining to look like an AA recovery " to garage of choice "
just called them, very friendly and helpfull, told me of a few things to try , also that they have had a few 749 in with dodgey pumps which need replaced as no fix available,, also pump is not cheap !!
Not read every post but Its not something daft like an immobiliser? Do you leave the key in all the time.
