Quicker acceleration please

  1. Hence after a couple of runs at Odiham sympathy kicks in :upyeah:

But had my. Ulti into the red in top on std gearing too, as well as my ST2, although lower capacity ones dont seem to pull top cog ala 600 monster

  2. ...which is why I never said that, and you're trying to make me look stupid by attributing me with things that I haven't said.

...and which bit of the OP's "I am more than happy with its top end speed" does that help with?

I'm agreeing that you've missed the most important part of the original question.

  3. Which is..?

  4. Well we agree. I still change gearing mainly because I have yet to sustain top speed for longer then 5 min at a time before something came up.

  5. Love that straight at Odiham. Only got the 1198 up to 160ish before my sphincter tightened as the right hander approached fast. I need to do Odiham more this year coming so that I can properly sort out my braking points. I tend to play it by ear. Its a fun event run by good people. Now I've the QS i might get a bit quicker on the straight.

Ive had the 1198 fully open. Full chat 180+ in France. Then my mate on his S1000rr went by me. The bastard. He is making 200+bhp but to be fair he can't corner for shit. His woos lines are legendary. I, have none.

  6. Been flat stick on evo, all lights blazing, and been past like I was stood still by a beemer. Telemetry showing 168, clocks a bit more optimistic ;-)

Luca - what do you mean top speed for more than 5 mins?

  7. I've maxed out every bike I've ever owned (apart from the Guzzi - that would be cruel), believe me, every speedo lies, especially Italian ones...

  8. I mean I yet to do flat out on long period. Few minutes stints at a time Yes but after that there is always a tighter bend, car, other bike.....

  9. I prefer acceleration to top speed. Its nice to have it I guess but rarely used.

  10. Get a 600. Its flat everywhere all the time then :upyeah:

  11. I don't think I've ever ran a bike flat out in Blighty for more than a few seconds, it just isn't possible round these parts. Which is why I love big, simple v-twins; they work brilliantly in the 60-100mph zone that is more typical of my usual riding.

  12. I noticed 695 is ridden at higher throttle but I still see no way of doing full throttle/top speed for long.

  13. Come for a ride with me in the summer. We'll have it flat for at least 5 minutes ;-)
