  3. Nah, just open it and get a face full of debris. Works for me! :D

  4. Been an Arai fan since I could afford to buy one, then because of creeping crap eyesight, so the need to wear glasses, I've now got a Shoei Neotec 1, wish I'd got one far earlier, quietest lid I've ever worn and far more comfortable to wear than a Schuberth, for me.

  5. So, deliberately rode without my music on yesterday. All vents open due to the weather. I didn’t think it was overly noisy at the time. Quiet up to about 70 when the wind noise at the top of the helmet kicked in but even that was only a low noise compared to the full on roar I had with the AGV. It was also only the top, no wind at the sides. I tested my screen by using my hand to feel the blast. It puts it just over my head. I did notice I had a fuzzy head and dulled hearing when I got off the bike though. Disappeared after a sit down and a beer. Might be time to get some plugs, although I never get this when I have my music on and don’t even have my music that loud.

  6. Thanks for your feedback JH, appreciated.

I went to Helmet City in Chichester yesterday to ask their advice on my noise issue. I bought the helmet from them so was hoping they might be able to give me some advice.
Spoke to the manager, who promptly disappeared and returned a few seconds later carrying his identical helmet to mine in his hand and proudly showed me that it had been autographed by the Moto 3 rider Bastinini? looked like a 3 years old had scribbled on it to me.
"Yeh, mines the same , noisy int they" was his reply. He then showed me that he had glued a small piece of foam into the ear cavity to reduce the volume of the cavity, and explained that it's possible to alter how the fitting of the visor can be altered by loosening off the 2 fixing screws on the side and moving the whole circular assembly fore and aft.
"There a race helmet int they, bound to be noisy int they" was his final riposte.
I quickly realized I wasn't going to achieve anything so slunk away defeated.
My attention more focused on the matter made me realize however that the wind roar noise is only really on my right ear, the left side seems o.k. I am sure that the wind roar I can hear is not visor related, but wind coming in from under the helmet. I'm going to experiment with tucking some thing around the underside of the helmet to see If I can eliminate it or at least reduce it.
I am aware of the 'Windjammer ' things but don't like the idea of glueing something to my helmet

  7. Mine came with a thing under my chin. I also have fit my intercom so have speakers in the ear cutouts.

  8. Mine too for all the use it is!

  9. Mine’s really good. Really snug fit. I get no noise apart from a minor bit across the top of the lid at speed.

  10. I think I need to eat more, I've got the Chizzled jaw look lol, I need fatter cheeks to seal against the pads

  11. agv pista-r visors on ebay £40 delivered, 3 left , item number 163113185905
side note, im guessing the huge air ducts are responsible for the noise in the helmet. if you have good hair or a fat head the noise will be less.
    my hair is gone.
there is a foam triangle you fit in the rear of the helmet, this may reduce draught noise.
im going to experiment with taping the vents up just to test the theory.
there is no helmet out there as cool to wear, but noisy none the less.

  12. see above?? /\ /\

  13. I’m keen to switch from Arai but nothing fits me as well unfortunately. Looking at the QV Pro for my next helmet. Tried the GT Air and it was not nearly as comfortable as Arai for me...

  14. I gave in and bought an RX7v. Love it.

  15. Don’t get me wrong, I still love their stuff, but after 16 years wouldn’t mind a change.

Does your RX7 have the new and improved side pod removal system?

  16. It does, and it’s a bit slower than the old system but makes sense. The latch is very effective too.

  17. Purchased an AGV sport modular carbon in April from J&S during one of their online flash sales 20% off.
I’ve been using C3 Schuberths for 12 years for road riding and had been wearing an AGV as a track helmet so bought without trying on hoping for a similar size & fit.
First thing to note was how light the carbon lid is, especially for a modular helmet. The quality & finish is superb. The 58 medium size is perfect for my head with no pressure points. The titanium double D chin strap feels more secure and traditional than the Schuberth seat belt style (not that I had a problem with it and manageable with gloves on).
With the recent warm weather I can confirm the vents work well, with a comfortable flow of air over my bald head
The visor has great perriferal view better than any lid i’ve owned. Theirs the dark inner visor which has a smaller tab opener than Schuberth. It comes with a pin lock inner and I suffered no fogging during the first cold rides. The visor is really easy to remove/replace and has a great ratchet system, motorway speed lifesavers don’t flick the visor open as the Schuberth would but does have a tricky tab opener which takes some getting used to.
The helmet has a reversible liner for summer/winter which is a nice touch and a chin scarf with helps with noise and stays put unlike my Schuberths
If your planning on buying one to use with an intercom you may have to modify things a bit as AGV haven’t really considered connectivity, which is odd for a flip front helmet. I’ve fitted the Scala headset from my Schuberth but there’s not really any allowance for it in the shell and the speakers can cause pressure on the ear which may require a little sculpturing of the liner for comfort and the mic boom will need to be routed.
In conclusion it’s a great lid, marginally quieter than the Schuberth the lightness and dynamic style mean for me it’s a better lid and looks great

  18. I thought the same but found the pop out ear speaker recesses when fitting the Sena into my Dad’s Sportmodular. He now feels no pressure on the ears from the speakers. :)

  19. Cheers Fire 3500,
Just checked my AGV and you’re so right, the ear cushions are removable to create a circular recess for the headset speakers.
I’d been having some discomfort with speakers & ear plugs but now 100% sorted. It does mention ear cushion removal in the instruction manual but wasnt obvious while fitting the intercom on a dark April evening.
Thanks for the heads up buddy, that’s what makes this forum so useful.
I may even treat the wife to a matching lid as she’s still wearing a Schuberth ‍
