Many do, if you can put on a rear stand it also helps keep steady if a strap loosens. Belt and braces, as cranker said, one off the subframe or peg holder to be sure
Added...if its in a chuck you only need keep it pulled forward to stay in and steady if from rocking left/right if it moves in the chock, so doesnt have to be mega tight and not much compression of the forks
I use a strap from subframe/foot peg to secure rear against wheel well. It doesnt need a lot of compression, just there to stop rear end of bike waving around when doing a swedish flick to get rear end of van out.
Doh, looks like the Ford bolts are slightly too big for the Toyota Hiace, I was hoping they would fit. Excuse the stupid questions but anyone got any idea what I need, I'm not sure what the naming convention is? NEW 4 GENUINE Ford FLOOR LASHING TIE DOWN D RINGS VAN GARAGE HEAVY DUTY | eBay
nuts ans bolts, M10 or M8 - however long they need to be to go through floor ans have threads visible for putting nuts on. And why are those bolts too big???????
I think I must need M8 then, these ones will not fit. Hopefully I've got something M8 size knocking about the garage. On the up side the van works already for the off road bikes we've recently got kitted up with using existing holes in the bulkhead and the new chocks. I just wouldn't put the racebikes in there without the proper tie downs.
Agree with bradders, rear paddocks a must in case of strap slips, I use 180 degree swivel anchor points for cars, welded to the floor, great that they swivel but not cheap...
