  1. My bike has been laid up for ages, and I've had it recommissioned and unfortunately the battery died while garaged, even though on charge. At first there was a christmas tree of error lights, but this seems to have cleared itself, but a fault remains that the key needs to be held against the ecu (right up above the hugger) to activate. It's had a new key battery, but is there any fix or will it sort itself?

  2. You did remove the ‘bitter tasting, prevent child chewing’ sticker off the back of the new battery didn’t you?

Assuming you did, and assuming it’s not a fault with the new battery itself, remove the cover off your key fob, press down on the battery and see if you can then turn the bike on whilst pressing down on the battery.

I’ve experienced a number of key fobs of a similar vintage that require additional pressure on the battery to force the connection with the terminals on the pcb/radio transmitter inside the fob.

If that cures your issue your options are to:
    a) place something such as folded paper on to the battery before sliding back the fob cover to force pressure onto the battery, then wrap the fob covers tightly with insulating tape or a cable tie to make sure sufficient pressure is exerted upon the battery within, or,
    2) precise a new fob c.£125 but you’ll need the dealer to programme out to your bike.

  3. Hi Paul
The fob works ok, just minimal range. Someone said something about a ecu patch? But I've no info
