899 Rapid Bike Evo, Anyone Using This? Any Advice?

  1. Hey, currently waiting for my USB cable to arrive for Rapid Bike EVO ECU, and I couldn't really find anything online specifically for 899 adjustments. Maybe someone here can give a total tuning noob some pointers? I mean hopefully as I open the program it will make sense.

The biggest thing that I want to check is if my bike is running rich, as in city riding I'm getting around 8 liters for 100km, and it seems way off of what others are getting here. And also I might be having issues with my fuel light, but I had some people saying that the fuel light is just kind of unreliable as well. For now I'm using trip meter mostly, but because of varied MPG that I get, I don't push it past 130 km before I go to petrol station.

Obviously I don't want to make the bike run lean either, is there a way to set the tuning to "default" or "balanced" once I get the cable to access the software?

Also I would just take it to Ducati dealer, which I did, and they said they don't deal with Rapid Bike ECU as they don't have the software.

Bike setup: 2014 899 Panigale, Akrapovic slip-on exhaust (currently without baffles, but will use once I get them)

  2. Happy to share what I know.

I have an 899 and used Liam at performanceparts-ltd to change the map from an 1199 to a 899. I beleive there are two versions of the 899 map, standard and one for use with termis (I think) - IIRC its called 899-mod. The maps can only one loaded on to the Evo unit via USB cable but you also need the Pro versoin of the software - Laim can reprogram the device for you.

Its worth noting that there is a Bluetooth connector, that has more features but lacks the ability to backup your auto adoption settings or update the firmware of the modules. Im now waiting on the USB cable from performanceparts-ltd (who are based in the UK).

When the firmware was updated on my evo unit, I took a video with all the deafult settings, Im happy t share that with you if youd like - Just send me a PM.

  3. I can give you some feedback as I currently run 2 RB units on an 1199 and 1299.

it makes sense to also purchase the USB cable if you decide to go with this solution, as you can change maps and also back up to your computer if you change exhausts or other accessories.

you will need to have the box 'flashed' by a dealer if you change models i.e. 1199 to 1299 but other then that you will be fine with the basic Master software package for free.
the base map can, once activated carry out AFR adjustment inline with the parameters you set on the adaptive page of the software, and as you ride the bike it will store corrections that you will then need to 'approve' and then the master table will be adjusted and the trim operation will start again.. you can repeat this every 200 km and the adjustments will reduce in size until you are just left with small adjustment numbers (+1 -2 etc)

I now bought the Master pro software as I picked up a second hand Evo race unit that has a little more adjustability and some add on functions, but not necessary, and an re program them form one bike /manufacturer to another..
