999 Rear Tyre Size

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Cream_Revenge, Jun 13, 2017.

  1. will 180/60 fit a grey swing arm right at the front/shortest of adjustment?

  2. 180/55 is a very close fit right at the front. The little sticky up bits new tyres come with are just clipping the rear hugger where it sits in the SA.

Not sure how much greater circumference a 180/60 has but would have been really close.

  3. Quite a lot! Not sure how the T9 works, but most 1000 cc bikes push their rear wheel right back anyway, you can always spacer the rear mudguard

  4. Another vote here for the 180 on a 5.5 inch rim.

  5. I run a 180/60 at the rear (available ex-race Supercorsa scrubs) - have had to remove the hugger - corners beautifully and scrubs to the edge FB_IMG_1467645363756.jpg

  8. Nowadays you want to run a 180/60 on 5.5 which is awesomely perfect.
Or: the near identical measuring 200/60 on a 6 inch if you wanna go for the heaver tyre and rim.

  9. Sure, grinding can be fun and entertaining these days!

  10. Sorry to unearth this thread but, any fitting issues for a 180/60 grey swingarm 999 ?

I've deciding (Dunlop Sportsmart Mk3) between 190/55 or 180/60 at the rear. If the rear hugger needs to be shimmed its not an issue but not sure on swingarm clearance.

  11. 180/60 works on both swingarms without any problem at all.

If using a tire warmer you need a longer chain to be able to put the farther back

  12. Thanks!

Does the carbon hugger need to be spaced?

  13. @Sev to the grey area...

  14. Nope, fits perfectly!

  15. 180/60 it is then!
