Ronnie Spector, pop singer who fronted the Ronettes, with hits including Be My Baby, dies aged 78 of cancer. They had quite a career and at their peak they toured the US in 1966 as a support act to the Beatles; and the Rolling Stones supported them on a Ronettes tour of the UK!

'Meat' is the first one that's brought back a time and a place and other people, and I didn't really like him that much (or, rather, Steinman). Sure evokes an era though!
Sad news, I have very happy memories brought on by his songs. A 1980's New years eve, in the Taswell Arms in Southsea watching a bunch of people dressed as Sunflowers from the TV add dancing and singing along to Bat out of hell is one of the best. And of course the Bat album was a staple of my student life.
