Freebie and the Bean might have been the 1st 'X' film me and my mates took in, age 13 or 14. We thought it was great, but it wasn't really, seeing it today. Caan was the 'cool' one but Alan Arkin funnier. 'Hot Lips' was disappointly mumsy.
There were a lot of, in retrospect dire, X films back then. We thought Black Belt Jones was brilliant but it was actually utter shite. Various Bruce Lee flicks. I think Lee's rice flail scene and appearance in Batman were the only decent scenes he ever did, yet he was a legend. That was the '70s for you!
Spent a lot of time in pubs and I look at photos of myself/us back then and we just look like kids. Sure was fun though!
