If your bike uses a Marelli IAW59 or IAW5A (the 848 has a 5A) then ScanM5X on an Android phone or tablet is really good. You can download ScanM5X off Google Play. As well as an Android phone you will need the following hardware; Ducati 3 Pin to 16 Pin OBD Adaptor (finm's already got this cable) ELM327 Bluetooth OBD reader These are both available from Lonelec.co.uk and are known to work. eBay versions can't be relied on.
Sorry to butt in, but what is the point of these messages other than revenue and treating owners like idiots? A service book does the job just fine
Then you your going to need JPdiag's M3C software but only works for some older Siemens with M3C. It won't work for the Scramblers nor bikes with the M3D ecu such as the Supersport and newer Monsters.
Many owners are quite capable of doing an oil & filter change themselves but are not prepared to pay main dealer prices for a bike that is 5 or more years old so that they can get the service light reset. If you're happy with that fair enough.
