  1. was joe cox's murder labeled a terrorist?

  2. Not by any intelligent person.
He was a deranged murderer, a criminal lunatic. Such a person can shout whatever slogan they like, it doesn't elevate their action to the status of armed struggle nor render political what was nothing more than a low and heinous crime.
Though of course lots of people tried to jump on his crimes to make political capital of their own, and by so doing they, not the murderer himself, are the ones who spuriously politicise what was purely an act of murder.

  6. My point about the overuse of the T word is that plain despicable murder only becomes terrorism when we give it the name and consent to being terrorised.

A man who shoots and stabs a defenceless woman on the street - her occupation is completely irrelevant - or drives a vehicle into a crowd of people is by any definition at best deranged and at worst the lowest from of criminal and a coward of the the most contemptible kind. There is no conceivable cause that he can claim as justification to dignify such crimes unless we acknowledge and approve that claim.
Terrorists never call themselves terrorists, they rely on their victims giving them that accolade and when we do we create their "cause" for them. If we stick to calling them what they are - weak and inadequate yellow-bellied sub-human scum who are lower than the shit on our shoes - that is all they can ever be. They need us to make them something more than they are so they can convince others to copy what they have done. Do not oblige them.
