First time I did this (after sprag clutch replacement) it worked first time so I was most surprised to fail initially this second time.
Been down to Lymington to collect the repaired leathers. Quick stop off at MR on the way back to get some fresh brake fluid. RCS15 fitting time. Andy
Good ride out with the lads in this boiling weather, Yarm, Alston, Brampton, Longtown, just over the border into Scotland and then brunch at the Olive tree in Newcastleton Back through Kielderwater, Hexham, Blanchland, Stanhope, Middleton in Teessdale and a coffee at the A68 diner West Auckland,…just over 200 miles round trip, outside temperature gauge showing 27 degrees C on the way back an I felt like a boil in the bag in my leathers !! Porny bin overload shot for @Ducbird ,…cooaarrrr, look at those 3 bins in a row, strutting their stuff !! Fantastic day out with great mates who I’ve known for decades, absolutely treasure days out like this now little 899 just gets better, over 27,000 miles on it now, wouldn’t change it for anything
Just ordered some EGGZ MOTORBIKE EARPLUGS in the hope that they will cut out wind noise in my new lid but I’ll still be able to hear my comms clearly.
Preparing bike for very long (for me) single day ride next week. While riding to work noted the bike was idling at 2000 after no such problem night before. Read up...probably stepper motor (2006 MTS 1000DS). Idle fixed itself when I started bike to ride home at end of day...no problem. To ward off a repeat (hopefully) the small thing I did was pull the hose to stepper from airbox and squirted carb cleaner in it. Turned bike on and off few times to work the stepper valve, then squirted a little ACF-50 down the tube.
900 ss 2002 bought 10 days ago, first things first...belt check..according to history these belts were mounted in 04-2012...8k km ago... lost some tension, no serious damage, better replace them, bike has done less than 1000 km/year since 2012, tires from 2009... not cracked or bad, pretty decent ride... Ready for new Michelins...
Charged up my airbag vest and Packtalk unit in the hope I “may” get out for an hour or so over the weekend
Not too bad then. I've heard there is an opening for a one legged bloke in the Long John Silver reprise musical...
Ordered a set of tyres for my KTM, £145 for a matching pair Diablo Stradas. They popped up in a search for tyres and being the cheapskate I am couldn’t resist the saving over the tyres I originally wanted.
