I received an email from our moderator titled baiting and being baited. In it I was informed that cranker has been dismissed and speed trip warned to tone down his political agenda. I was active in the tread titled stop press, so maybe this is why I received the email. Personally I would like to see all warnings etc made open for all to view. Not sure i am comfortable with the cloak and dagger approach.
The problem I am talking about is moderation Of a few not in the clique Most insulting members? ET is pretty tert, but a mod so thats ok when he calls someone an idiot for asking a question, pete 1950 for just taking the position of everyone else is an idiot, loz is over the egde of sarcasm especially with some, I can be really direct and rude if someone is to me, that triple pret generally, aircon is a troll and a condescending one at that. There are loads of example and yet never get modded. And there are worse, who call others names all the time. Yet keep popping up. Has a bit of an olds boys club feel at the moment.
It's difficult to judge what exactly is friendly, tongue-in-cheek abrasive banter and what is proper, unpleasant abuse. Sometimes they look the same. For instance, Elise (Exige) is so cruel to me I feel like crying but he has a heart of gold and he is just so cute. So that's OK. On the other hand, I have seen stuff, not involving me, that has made me cringe. It's just nasty and the forum is diminished by it. I have a fairly thick skin and can roll with much of it but why should everyone else have to put up with it? The Ignore function is wonderful, as you get to be your own moderator and "ban" who you like. However, when things turn truly awful, the site administrator, via his moderators, needs to step in. If you can see exactly why the moderator has stepped in, the likelihood is that this is the forum for you. If the moderator jumps in too early, or doesn't act when you think he should and this makes you angry, well ... you know what to do.
Is you sayin' there wasn't a serious clique problem with Ducatisti? F-me.........I could probably name them all, but I won't in the interests of decency. Cliques don't particularly bother me.............. .....as I said before, it is the nasty minded sods that post a seemingly relevant topic, just to attract comment with the underlying intention of winding someone up............ ...........that's a lot different to a bit of piss take, humour or banter which sidetracks the thread temporarily.
But overall it's really quite good isn't it? You have to agree? I mean if it was really crap you wouldn't respond to this?
We don't really have many rules here. One rule we have is that abusive posts towards other people will not be tolerated. Calling someone the 'C Bomb' in my book constitutes abuse. Do it once and get warned. Multiple times and get banned. It's very simple really in my book. And a public thanks to @El Toro for the work that he puts into in to making this place as good as it is. It will never be perfect forum as you can never satisfy everybody; its difficult to find the right balance with public open user generated content. I think we get it about right with the balance of moderation. Thanks, Rob.
I think it's fair to say we have one of the best forums I'm on a mini one and there are about 5 active members and it's boring and no fun Great for info but that's it I love this forum and all the diverse people on it and I know we can all be a pain but all are very well tolerated most of the time
