    Think Luke Skywalker and Jedi.
You must be born to this and then undertke a life long quest to become...the moderator.

  5. Blimey....I didn't know people took the forum thing so seriously...
Who cares whether someone else has been banned?
If he/she is your mate in the real world,he/she will surely still be your mate,if they are not then good riddance
And if he/she has been posting stuff that you don't appreciate, there's an ignore button..you don't have to personally tell them to f*ck off,it only feeds their feeling of self-importance
Apart from actual threats/posting personal information/very serious stuff,I don't see why the Mod/ET should have to take responsibility for giving someone the spanish archer:if everyone who didn't like the contributor ignored him/her they'd soon piss off somewhere else.
And while it is a bit cliquey on here at times,it's no worse than real life...and actually looking at their views in print is half the fun,you get to see what a complete circle of arse-lickers think of themselves.
The number of interesting and entertaining folk on here far outweighs the cretins,it's the best forum I've ever had an interest in,ET is doing a great job and I trust that if he feels someone needs banning then I trust that they needed banning..if he lets his mates get away with more than the rest of us could then I'm sure there will be a loud chorus of disapproval.
    I like it here

  9. Oooh I remember ukgser....if you Google the word,"flounce",it'll be right at the top of the list....:Blackeye:

  10. whats happened? been away for 2 weeks and its all kicked off.

There is a small group that i get what bradders is saying that they seem to say anything and de-rail threads.

ducatisti wasnt "too bad" for the cliques but mention the ukmonster forum and thats the king of cliques. Its easy to solve , just dont use the forum like i dont with ukmonster for last couple of years.

  11. I started a thread a while back suggesting that a 'stay on topic/don't stay on topic' option was included in the thread bar when starting one but it was generally ridiculed/pulled to pieces and the people I hoped it would appeal to didn't discuss/support the idea or even post on it.

  12. You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

  13. I don't use this forum as much for exactly that reason Chris. You start reading an interesting thread then all of a sudden the usual suspects crop up and you then have to slog through pages of mostly off topic bollocks looking for relevant posts. We know who they are, they know who they are, but still it continues. As for banning people, I've seen worse on other forums, but yes if they won't get the massage then maybe banning is, as a last resort, the only solution. I wouldn't want to be a forum mod, nothing but grief and little thanks!

  14. I do think we need to keep more threads that are being derailed back on topic.

I do often delete posts that add nothing to the discussion/thread topic.

  15. 90% of the threads get derailed on here by the same 8-10 inmates. It doesn't matter whether the threads are technical requests, or just folk posting a pic of their new wheels, they all end in the same puerile banter. We may as well abolish the sub forum names and just throw the whole lot in the lounge.

Its all well and good saying put a major irritation on ignore, but if you tried to set a filter using this method, half the bloody forum would disappear as every thread is peppered with totally irrelevant bollox. It certainly takes the pleasure out of using the forum for me, and pushes others straight back out the door.

Being part of bike forums, we all tend to observe the same routines each year, with folks getting more and more short tempered and irritable, the more time we are kept away from our machines by the shit weather. Most of the bigger bust ups can be seen each spring, just before the inmates are let out into the sun again. Maybe the best thing to do is just switch the damn thing off for a month or so, until we have all had a decent biking fix and are a damn sight more relaxed again.

  16. Sounds ideal but i doubt most would follow the request. Itd be nice though as like mentioned nearlly 90% end up the same.

  17. It would be very helpful if members would use the Report button on the posts that are going off topic. These are private reports that will be sent to mod/admins that make it easier to track when content needs to be looked at.

  18. I suppose that route is better than nothing but it's a shame to have to resort to a 'cloak and dagger' method and could result in disharmony for the 'offender'. I for one would prefer to be told directly if I am straying too far off topic particularly if it came from the O.P.

  19. So seems consensus amongst posters is:
It's the rules, comply or feck off
    Didn't know we ban people
    Place is fairly moderated
Except that the usual suspect constantly de-rail every thread (exaggeration for affect) with puerile often in-joke humour
We are happy with covert actions and the like
There are functions in the forum which, if used more effectively, can reduce said dross

If that's what people think I stand corrected.

Feel free to select the thread, as I can't (must have been a change)

  20. I've not been able to find a "Report button". Would you mind indicating where it is to be found, please?
