So what have you done today..?

  1. Not easy to accept having to, but, build a big fuck-off wall on the inside of the hedge and be done with them.

  2. I get where you’re coming from but we are very rural and a large wall or fence wouldn’t be in keeping with the area. We’d also lose too much space from our garden.

  3. Driven down south through some horrendous weather, staying for a couple of nights in Nailsworth. Visiting Westonbirt Arboretum tomorrow.

  4. I went past the Arboretum last week, never been in though.

  5. I try each year to make a visit, especially in autumn when the leaves are at their best.

  6. It looked lovely last week with the leaves just on the turn.

  7. Should be lovely as long as it's not been washed away in today's torrential rain!

  9. Just got back from a trip to the USA. We had a couple of days in Brooklyn and then drove up to Connecticut for a good friends 60th birthday. The party was a hoot with an acapella choir from Yale followed by a hilarious drag queen. Had far too much to drink.

  10. Just wanted to add to the statins debate. A friend of ours was told he needed them but was adamant he wouldn’t take them and would manage it with diet. He was very controlled with his eating and drinking but still had a stroke. The effects from the stroke were way worse than any side effects from the drugs. After three years he’s still not back to where he was.

I was told I needed them and take them. The only noticeable side effect I’ve found is very vivid dreams (some very scary) but not all the time.

  11. Unbelievable. My son was jumped by a group of nightclub bouncers on 6th Aug 2023, leaving him with a severe concussion and a compound fracture of the wrist that required surgery, both of which injuries stopped him boxing for almost a year. Despite most of the incident being caught on CCTV, him identifying at least one of the assailants and his friend identifying another in video ID parades, nobody has been charged yet.

If you don't mind me asking, what is the significance of not being able to prove ownership of your hedge?

  12. We live quite close to the Arboretum and in the early days before they started charging we used to take the hound there most Sunday mornings. It can be a magnificent place in the depths of winter, a heavily frosted Christmas day morning sticks in the memory, but as with most things now it's become too popular and crowded.

  13. Yeah it was full of bloody dog walkers today
    :)

  14. I bought this.

    It's a 2005 Gas Gas Pampera 250 2-stroke.

My 1979 DT175 proved too old and fragile for anything but the gentlest of green-laning, parts are scarce(ish) and, most importantly, the engine seized but hasn't been rebuilt yet. I had it bored to receive an oversized piston, but the piston doesn't fit so it seems the borer needs take a bit more off and I haven't got round to taking it back to him yet.

So, I've bought this and will probably sell the DT once I've got it running again.

  16. What's spares availability like on the Spanish gasgas these days ?

  17. Watched the release/launch of the 2025 Yamaha R9, a bike I’ve been waiting for for several year and what a disappointment it’s turned out to be ……looks shit, crappy wings and rubbish colours.

  18. It's the bike I should have bought instead of the DT tbh, but I let my nostalgic heart rule my head.

I bought it on the basis of a few photos and a couple of videos, so hopefully it won't turn out to be a lemon when the seller delivers it tomorrow. These Pamps are very well regarded, there aren't many around, they tend to sell quickly, but there was no chance of me viewing it until the weekend at the earliest, so I rolled the dice..... The seller seems legit - very well spoken, used to work for Suzuki, knocking on the door of 80 and is still taking part in enduro events, so fingers crossed.

  19. There seem to be plenty of the Bay of E and other sites, plus forum chatter suggests there isn't a shortage.
