Taken delivery of an Ikea bookcase which someone, probably DPD, have managed to damage. UPDATE; I've just got off the phone to Ikea; the new bookcase will be delivered next Friday. Don't worry about returning the old one sir, you can dispose or repurpose that with our blessing. The two shelves are already inserted into last week's bookcases...
I get involved in quite a few odd things to do with the school that Lady Nasher teaches at. It used to be mainly Rugby, but these days is more practical stuff like building sets and Props for Productions. This afternoon I brought their GreenPower Racecar home as I’d been asked to add some bodywork in School colours. It’s a great series with cars for three different age groups, the lower 2 being available as kits minus any bodywork. One of the great things is the kit can be broken back down each year for another group to start from scratch. https://www.greenpower.co.uk/ https://shop.greenpower.co.uk/products/gp1389-1 A group of 9yr olds from the Junior school have built a ‘Goblin’ this year from a kit, but have run out of time to design and fit bodywork, so I grabbed the Corriboard they had already sourced and stitched some on with Cable-Ties. I’m just annoyed I’m too big to test drive it, but having seen the kids driving it I was surprised at just how quick it is. My lift bench once again saved my back:
I believe they are attempting to ensure that no one can reach 65 or 66 and claim they were unaware the retirement age had changed. Apparently that scenario has previously happened...
Came back from Plymouth on the train. I'm gonna go back maybe in October as I have other stuff planned before. The issue that perplexes me is travel: The train back was busy and we went slow before Taunton as we were following a late-running London train. After Taunton the line splits and the London trains don't go to Bristol. So, to celebrate the fact that we were no longer being delayed by the late-running London train, we went even slower! I had bit of a wait at Brizzle Parkway as trains only go to my station every hour. Then, when I go to Cam % Dursley. a bit of a wait for my taxi. Overall, the trip back was about five and a half hours. Google tells me that it would of taken two hours to drive back and the hotel has two floors of underground car park. Even atrain driver (who trains (spot the joke there!!!) other drivers) staying at the same hotel drove their rather than take the train - that I presume he could of done for free. What does that say for UK train travel? What I learnt was, if I do travel by train don't make the mistake of going on a Monday and coming back on a Friday. I don't work, so should of done my ravelling on a Wednesday. Live and learn.
Got away from trackside about 6:45, a long, hot day. Had a few beers with friends and then fired up my new camping BBQ. Fresh Salmon fillets cooked with Sriracha, served with a salad, followed with Baklava ....... and more beer. Living the dream Andy
First round of the club championship today; probably won’t make the cut for tomorrow. Now at the O2 for Santana, don’t tell @Zeus
Not really what have I done, but a large area around where I live had a blackout last night, apparently caused by the heat.... Anyway on the social crap today I was amazed how many people were complaining that their mobile phones wouldn't work. What do they think powers the cell towers, pixie dust?
Given the inability of a large number of people where I am to cope with a 3 figure block number, a 1 letter row designation and a 3 figure seat number I assume a large number of your neighbours are at the same concert I’m at.
