  1. You'll be just up the road from us.

If you get the chance to try it, Josies, just off the town square is great for lunch.:upyeah:

  2. I don't know how you can eat when there's that hill to go up and down.

  3. We are at a site called Le Pin Parasol, on the north bank of Lac du Jaunay, just on the outskirts if a village called La Chapelle-Hermier

The closest large towns are either Aizenay or Saint-Gilles-Criox-de-Vie

The site we are on, we've been coming here since 2014, but had a few years off, there has been a lot of changes since we were last here

  4. What hill is that then?

Perhaps you are talking about Butser between us in Clanfield and Petersfield, which yes, when we walk home from Petetsfield is a bit of an obstacle, so we tend to walk there, have lunch and catch the bus home.

  5. Steep. One gathers it's a village of sorts but so literally named it seems very dry wit. The primary reason for that route I used to take to Hayling Island. On a Brit single, Triumph twin and the Jota. I must do it with the Ducatis!
Looking at a map I see there's Steep Hill and Bell Hill running down from Steep to Petersfield. Can't tell from the map which one I mean. Possibly they're both good.
But it's about as steep as you can comfortably ride, switchbacks all the way, woodland all the way, and gives the best sound you can get from a lightly-silenced 4-stroke other than caning it on the flat.

Butser Hill is where the Saxon settlement is/was?

  6. I drove to Hayling in 1980 in the MG Magnette me and my mate went halfs on, him and one or two others as passengers. I don't remember where, but somewhere around Clanfield. It was a dark and stormy night, pelting down, wipers on full tilt, halfway round a semi sharp curve, past a churchyard on the left and a T-junction. And an egg smashed on the windshield. Instantly spread by the wipers across the entire screen and effectively blanked out forward vision. I'm quite proud of how I managed to turn into the T-junction and stop without hitting anything.
