I do 50/50 road and off road when i cycle just to mix it up a little, so the larger tyre would be a drag on the tarmac, but i'd get three punctures with the slimmer tire in one day which's all part of the journey. Last year with 21 rides just four flats in total, so better results.
OK, me cracked again! Despite not learning WTF my compensation money has gone and why I can't have it and not having the patience to wait until after the TEAMS meeting next week, I've booked another trip! Back to Plymouth in September. It started out as Worcester, where I found a really good place right on the banks of the River Severn, but I don't do decisions! Hopefully, this time, Plymouth City Council might have cured themselves from their obsessions of wrecking the pedestrian shopping area. The Luftwaffe did a good job nearly eighty years ago but it is really time to move on. Just because the Germans have no interest now in destroying Plymouth, it doesn't mean that the city council have to take their place! Also, I am going Wednesday to Wednesday and the trains should be a bit quieter in September. I just hope that this quietness does not spur GWR on to close the line as this is their favourite hobby! I am really confused about this permanent shortage of train drivers. I must be out of touch, but £50 to £70 thousand a year for driving a train a few days per week, sounds quite good to me, but there is always a shortage of staff. And when no staff shortages are expected they close the line for - well, any pathetic excuse that comes to mind! I am not 100% sure that I will go there by train and might transport myself. I should also be taking he train to Bath on Sunday, but won't. The service has just got so unpredictable and unreliable. I should really be going on to France or Spain but I've not booked anything. I'll maybe do that next year.
Rode out into wales today to give the bike I’m touring Scotland on in a few weeks a bit of a shakedown then met the wife and dogs at our holiday cottage that we are staying at until Tuesday. Tyre pressures were a bit low so I pulled into a garage…….. a bloody quid for some air!! Sod that it’s only a couple of psi in each tyre so I’ll wait until I’m back home for some free stuff.
New boots, for walking about a bit, but mostly for riding the bike as well. Can't be riding a bike in shoes. Doc Martens keep falling apart - two pairs of falling apart DMs at home - so listened to the internet and got these instead
I would say too big and heavy for bike riding with doing the gears and back brake without bending the gear and brake levers permanently. so I prefer proper motorcycle boots. But each to their own. If they are good for you then all is fine! And they are much, much better for kicking someone's ass!
You might be right. These seem a little bit more robust than Doc Martens, but I have been wearing DMs to ride bikes since I was at school.
I've got a pair of DMs for the garage, a pair for riding, and three pairs for being posh. When another pair starts falling apart, they'll be for the garage too. But I only find they fall apart from not using the leather balm for months (even if they're just sitting around most of the time). The left bike one is marked from not having a rubber on the 900 gear pedal. The problem used to be chamfering the outside of the soles.
Barbican Theatre for Goodnight Oscar, which we weren’t sure about but both thought was brilliant. Only downside was as we weren’t sure we went for cheaper seats and the ones we got should carry a health warning.
Doing well there ! And they do look neat and tidy when new and looked after. I wore black DMs with a suit before we went all "dress down" in the office. It certainly helps to have more than one pair in use at a time. For me, living where I do, quite a lot is within walking distance. I find mileage destroys them. They are not really a walking boot and they come apart. Otherwise very comfortable. The toe box is not so large so easily slips under a gear shifter - even if it does leave a mark like with your 900 !
