So what have you done today..?

  1. It is nice, it was Mrs GG who chose it, not that she has at any point reminded me of that, and there is a pub or 6 in the vicinity. Would recommend it if anyone was thinking of coming here, breakfast is excellent apart from the ruined black pudding.

  3. Don’t know if you’ve been before, but for anyone else, you’ve not lived until you’ve seen a Top Fuel Dragster at full chat.

I’m no particular fan of drag racing, but those things are a must see.

  4. It's a visceral and absolutely unforgettable experience. You don't just see or hear it, but also feel it, like a bomb going off.

  5. I stood at the barrier on the pit side not far past the Christmas tree, without ear defenders. When they drew level all I could hear was a high pitched whistle.

(And don't forget the smell of nitromethane, rubber and bleach)

  6. I'm glad it's not just me that enjoys Santa Pod.

It really is a full body experience when the top Fuel guys launch if you are near the start line.

And of course full respect to the Bike guys, not sure how their arms aren't 6' long.

One of the plans we have for our new motorhome is to camp there for the weekend so I don't do the drive there and back in a a day.

  7. above plus funny cars. Lucky to witness "Slammin Sammy" do a few passes in the hydrogen peroxide car, but although quick it still wasn't as sensational as the wheel-driven cars.

  8. Have you ever seen Eric Teboul run his HP Rocket bike at Santa pod? - Bonkers.

Unfortunately I think he retired a few years ago as I've not seen him for a while.

If you manage to find you way to Flame and Thunder https://santapod.co.uk/flame-and-thunder.php, they sometimes light the bonfire by backing one of their own rocket cars up to it.

  9. Regulars may gather that I was, in my youth, prodigiously stupid.

  10. It has to be said though, if there is any chance of rain don't by a ticket in advance and check the forecast carefully.

I've driven all the way there several times to spend hours watching them dry the track with their jet engine on a trailer.

  11. Mmmmm, perhaps we'll have to look at a forum gathering at a Santa Pod event next year.
