Watched Moto GP Picked 600g of raspberries. Picked about 4kg of blackcurrants. Still have to pack for flight to London at silly o'clock tomorrow morning - not that I plan on taking much, but I have been roped into attending the Henley Regatta which requires a suit and tie. What a pain.
Thanks Andy. Good point. I will have to pack the "flasher mac". You can't really wear a cagoule, I assume, to Henley Royal Regatta. But it's probably more "suits and umbrellas".
Went to an all-night rave last night at my neighbours house. It was a riot, with free drinks, food, wife-swapping and joints. Don't think they'll be impressed when they get back from Florida though
A lie-in! For the first time in several decades I managed to string together 10 hours of solid, unbroken sleep. This is a big deal for me.
or get your self pissed like what i did. just up, supposed to have been going to BSB at knock hill today. bollox.
Popped up the A5 to the Super Sausage cafe to meet a few Benelli mates - yes, yes, everybody got there ok ;-) Saw a few interesting bikes there: an old 2-stroke BSA, an Indian, a pair of lovely early Suzooks. And this immaculate old BMW... Cracking ride back too - I must ride the Tornado more often... Damn you 999 for being so goddamn fab
Yep that runs and ticks over nicely now I refurbished an old OEM Solex carb. Threw the shitty Bocar pattern carb as far into woods as my arm could throw it. Fucking thing. Shimmed the butterfly and that cured a vacuum leak at tick over low revs. Plus a good clean. Welding in winter. Bikes in summer. Note the bastard fairing screw that snapped on the rear brake mount. Now I need another mount as i was unsuccessful drilling it. Due to me not paying attention to what helicoil sizes I have and drilling too big. Wrong drill bit. Measure twice, drill once. Then kick yourself and do some swearing and shaking of fists.
I was gonna go out on the bike after I'd been for an eye test but it was pissing down. So I've been north to see my old mum. She's happy in her own little world, which is good given the traumas of the past couple of months.
Spent yesterday stripping and cleaning the bike after the Snetterton dustbowl Back together today so now I'm gonna go get it covered in crap again!
Visited the National Motorcycle Museum (near the NEC, Birmingham) this afternoon, never having been there before. There is certainly an enormous number of bikes, all British of course, but they are basically parked in rows and that's all there is to it. Rather disappointing - like museums used to be 50 years ago. I thought they might arrange them by make (all the Triumphs together, all the Nortons together, etc), or maybe in chronological order (1920s, 1930s), or by location (Birmingham bikes, Coventry bikes, London bikes), or to illustrate technical developments (side valves, pushrods, ohc, dohc), with explanatory displays. But no,nothing like that. The presentation is dull and much in need of curating. The museum at Brooklands and Sammy Miller's at New Milton are both rather more interesting - at least to me.
