Socket Set Advice

  1. I normally go to the local ironmongers and get them there. Have also bought rarer sized sockets off amazon.

  2. We got a large socket for the mini from screw fix

  3. snap on, or any good iron mongers

  4. Screw fix! Forgot about them. There's also machine mart. The race mechanic at work told me about them. They buy bits and pieces from them and they also have some ducati specific tools. Just priced up a 3/4" 46mm socket by britool and is less than £20.

  5. Good idea. I've just been on the Machine Mart website, individual sockets section, and they have several types available for each size. So I have just ordered 23, 28 & 29 mm sockets which were the ones missing from my toolbox.

  6. They're a mixed bag, Machine Mart. They do have a very good selection on loose socket sizes, including a 55 mm for the rear wheel nut. But on some things they are far from the cheapest, particularly power tools, and a lot of the - I guess Chinese made - Clarke gear isn't very good to say the least. Useful firm, but it pays to do a price check before committing.

  7. buck and ryan on southhampton row will do individual sockets of all sizes (teng stockist too :)

  8. buy local. screw the internet,

  9. I rang screw fix thinking they were a dating agency. Every day's a school day...
