don't hold your breath,, maybe put an annony call in to them tell them there is a 1/4 oz of blow in there !! then they be down in force , camera and all !!
look at his other items ie an engine and arrange to view?collect (with your mates ) and then pass address to police/tax/vat.
FFS this is the police, do they have to wait for a reply from ebay! The next time the police send me speeding fine I think I might just put it in my inbox and reply when I get round to it, or maybe not because I ve got better things to do!.
It's a little more involved than the Police picking up a phone and ringing E Bay. It can take EBay up to a month before they release the info
I understand the Police have a direct line in to Ebay and can get instant information of accounts, registered addresses etc?
When Lyon Apparel were launching a new fire helmet about 8 years ago some were pinched from our factory where they were made, they were spotted from a routine Ebay check (Lyon provide kit including uniforms to a lot of fire brigades so check regular). They contacted the Police, Police contacted Ebay, got the name and address of the account - it was the son of a production worker at our factory - within 48 hours the lads dad was in the office explaining himself. So, my question is, if they are improving systems to release information quicker then where is the improvement? Do you work for Ebay or the Police?
I imagined that! Prioritise a Fire Service provider with lots of clout and forget about crime against an individual? Do you think a few Forum members should therefore support and buy a cheap item, go round and pick it up and discuss with him?
Well that's a lot of good, by then he could have sold the swag, skipped the country and be sat on a beach sticking a finger up at the police and ebay - in theory!.
UPDATE, I was asked to go to police station to sign statement on Friday(23/01) because they now have the sellers name ,home address and garage/business? address. Was told it will be forwarded/emailed onto Staffordshire police the same day for them to take it over and go visit to seller. BUT, Just spotted that the seller has now sold it, hopefully the buyer does not pay cash pickup and pays with paypal so once the police do take possession of it, the buyer does not lose there money. DUCATI 1199 PANIGALE STANDARD ALLOY FUEL TANK – SLIGHT DAMAGE – GENUINE DUCATI | eBay
Jebus, I was just scanning this and saw stuff about stolen tanks being found....momentary friggin heart failure until I read more in depth! :Wideyed: Glad to hear that's been located and hope you get it back!
WELL, Not good in the end. Police been really good with this, but here is what happened and how the seller got it. Apparently Citylink and other couriers have a company who they deal with when a parcel is not delivered due to many reason and does not have a label on it or a return address. (BS!!! Because it had a large address label, sealed inside a sticky label package with tracking no.) They hold onto all the undelivered packages for a month or so and if not claimed??????, sell them to this company, who then auction them off online. Also, Once you accept a refund, then it legally becomes the courier companies. So, The ebay seller bid on it and won it legitimately. So he is 100% legit and not a dodgy seller. WARNING FOR ANYONE SENDING PACKAGED IN THE FUTURE. Tracked or not, try to put on more then just one address label and INCLUDE a return address. So, I will have to suck it up and lose the £415. Finally, Thankyou all for your help and support on this guys and girls.
