Totally agree with the carpi as they were very much different from the norm back in day and came with a free pair of binoculars due to the length of that bonnet,My mate who now resides in australia was a ford man right down to his underpants,had every conceivable ford example going but i was brought up on german cars but did own two white mk11 RS2000 at the same time.

 

You do know all European MK11 RS200's were built in Germany

 

Yes and no,i thought in the eighties they were built down the road at dagenham,but it's a british car to the public.......isn't it

 

MK1's were built in UK at either Halewood or later at AVO (Advanced Vehicle Operations) in Avely, all MK11's were built in Saarlouis in Germany (excepting Australian 4 door jobs...)
Just some RS anorak trivia for you - but, yes a British car, built by Germans and owned by 'Mercans - Henry Ford Junior had a bronze automatic RS2000 built for him when he visited the UK - no taste, but an auto box tunnel would be nice

Now yr talking. I had a mk1 Mexico in the early 80’s. Yes they were built by the AVO dept of Ford.
Give me MK2 RS 1800 anyway over exotica.
Have seen the price of these. Over 100k. Cosworth BDA engined. These were the cars that ruled rallying during late 70’s early 80’s. From what I remember they were making just under 170bhp (I may be wrong) but it was enough to demolish the opposition until the Quattro came along. My lottery car.

Just had this arrive today after a 9 year restoration. Mk2 Bentley from 1947.

 

This was one of my old escorts (the haynes manual one)sold to a mate for £5000 back in 98/99/2000 fully restored by him and me

 

I would have bitten yr hand off if I had known you were selling that last year.

 

I think my Rover SD1 is special.

 

Better get used to that brother. I’m still paying for my 21yr old law students insurance, despite it being a one off 2yrs ago! She’d be wise to remebe4 that I’m keeping count.

 

Did my apprenticeship on those and other Leyland gems. I was always busy

 

so did i,pdi was always interesting,most of the parts were in the boot

 

Guys stop torturing me with pics. I missed the boat with these cars. Wished I kept all mine. Had a mk 2 lotus cortina as a 19 yr old.

 

Unless it was a Metro, they always seemed to get the rear parcel shelf and tool kits nicked between leaving the factory and arriving at the dealer.
