That's a fair tonking is that. I must be really lucky as I've been pulled 3 times for doing over 100 and each time I've got away with a talking to. I remember reading something when I first started biking that getting off the bike, keys out, lid off and licence in hand goes a long way to improving your chances of just getting a scolding. Can't do any harm that's for sure.
Depends who it is and what they are there for. The Scottish chap that pulled me in Essex was only there for one job, and that was to accumulate tickets. He was no nonsense and very efficient. It is possible I may have got away with other incidents (again, allegedly), but on this occasion he was just here to add a number to the tally. (note: I was actually in a car on that occasion, and on the day they found me guilty in court I was out passing my bike test!)
