Quick update (I know you've all been desperate to know...). The blue wire connection seemed to work, so I have sound! I have had to play with some wiring and add a ground spade to the cage but all done. But its never simple. Bought DAB windscreen aerial, new, to match me new DAB steers. So why are the connectors different?! Wouldn't mind, but I had half the dash out routing the bastard thing and looks like its all going to have to come out and be replaced Think it will need to be a trip to halfords tomorrow, get a replacement (at 3x the cost of ebay) and then try and get my money back from the seller. Fit the DAB, bypass the handbrake ground or fit to the brake somewhere for the DVD to work (or not bother!) and its ready for a pope test....oh and probably replace the battery as its flat in no time and isnt holding a charge very well (hoping there isnt a drain somewhere!)
interesting, i have fitted a gazillion stereos and never once have fitted a separate earth for the body of the unit.
I think it may not be needed, but there is a wire from the OEM loom that was connected to the old cage so have made it fit the new one, just in case. Think its the blue wire connection that worked
Well, its all fitted and working and ready to go. Except car wont crank, just clicks, even after a day with the battery on charge. F'king cars. Seem to be replacing f'ing bikes! Hoping just battery is toast, and having the interior door lamps on and messing with the head unit has just drawn and already low battery. It is an old charger, putting 4v in when connected and was still putting 2v in after a day. Suspect battery not holding a charge now...and fingers every crossed I haven't blown something when messing with the wires
Going to see how it comes up tomorrow. Think I need to invest in a new charger anyway, as it’s likley I’ll need one now Tbf I’ve been messing with stereo and ignition on (wont power unless on then with key in) and only started on the drive once since Feb. I don’t think it’s goid to start these things and not drive them, and had to move it, so was necessary and not taxed so couldn’t take for a run.
Still could be wise to shove ya other car battery in to be sure though before blowing a ton on a battery?
