Ah, why not the hosing down? Usually I take a pressure washer and blast it over, mainly around the bits that pick up a lot of crap (radiator, tail and around the back wheel/engine top), wipe over the outer bits, fire it up and let it get up to temp to try and dry it off a bit, then leave it somewhere warm.
I hose mine matt, but I'd never use a pressure washer on it. Too much chance of water ingress where you don't want it. Plus it can blast lubricant out from where its supposed to be.
Pressure washer?! Ouch...Mr Sheen or WD40 and a clth for me...possibly muck off and rinse of water if its got some gunk on there
The possibility of screwing up the electrics is not worth the risk and hassle imho. On something like my daily commuter hack (a Honda CBF), yes I will pressure wash it - but that's because it's a Honda and not a highly strung temperamental Italian mistress!
Quick question regarding engine covers, sliders and rearsets. Putting this stuff on today as well as changing the fairing ready for some track time I have coming up.....question is, should I loctite everything bar the fairing? The fairing is a bad idea I know, just unsure about the rest of it....
Cant remember the compound but its not a strong one on the engine bolts as they are still fairly mild and easy to strip or break if you weld them in with superglue-esque strength. Personally I dont, I just try and remember to check them every know and then
Other than exhasust shiled that has epic grip adhesive stop the gold-plated bolts and washers coming loose lol
Hmm, hit what could be a real issue....trying to take the footrests off and one of the hex nut bolts that hold them to the frame just kinda rounded First one was tough but ok, second I thought was moving only to find the fitting had slipped round....is that now game over and a massive pain in the arse?
Worst case, wreck the bolt, can you get mould grips locked on to turn? A good reason why I try to resist threadlock tbh but most use without an issue
Ah, no worries....think it's totally shot. Seemed like a nice easy job I could do when I started, guess I was right to be nervous. Just out of interest where do I go from here? Ducati?
Doesn't matter, had one more go with the larger hex knocked in and twisted the footrest with it....off it came! And a shed load of loctite Think you are right about not using that stuff and just checking to make sure everything is tight regularly, seems like it can be an utter ball ache when you want to take something back off again.
Like bradders I don't use thread lock. Just check them regularly when I remember. Some of the head sizes are so small that rounding them off is pretty easy. good quality bits helps too. Cheap, ill fitting ones can contribute to your woes also.
