800ss and 900ss slightly modified and now wearing new spaghetti exhaust system, link pipe and titanium silencers. Sound great, run great and lighter than air (nearly)
800ss was 148kg with standard end cans. Not accurately weighed since but must be south of 145kg with no fuel. Engine is standard so that's the next lightening job. 900ss is just over 150kg with the fairing and bracketry. Light flywheel and various gears, balanced crank.
Mostly fresh air, no airbox, loom cut down, lithium battery, no fairing etc. Frame very heavily modified with all redundant sections removed. The list goes on. Tyres for supermotard save a little bit more. I could bore you silly!!
That’s pretty good without an alli tank too! I always fancied a 1000ds in a 150kg chassis. Reckon a real trackday weapon
Love my 1992 900SS track bike..... in lots of ways it feels more fun to ride than my 848, being more responsive and with more feedback. Will weigh it shortly to see how close I can get to 150 though suspect 170 is more likely.....
My favourite mod was going back to standard gearing after having a 39 tooth rear cog for London riding. No wonder I was running out of revs all the time on track!
