A place that I kept away from. I did se a 'boo-hoo' vid on YouTube saying feel sorry for the poor staff. These were staff that actively took part in signing up people to finance, raking in big commission. And when the government outlawed the commision rip-off model, we are all supposed to shed tears. "Tough Shit!", I say. Selling off finance repossessions bought dirt cheap at auctions, is not a model that I think we need.
I am taking a rest outside from garden clearance and look here on my phone. I seem to have upset two boohoos who are well signed up to the buy repossessions on finance model. if that reflects the majority here, so be it. i am insensitive to a crap, ripped dealer going bust, but that’s just me. I’ll keep quiet if that’s the type of dealer you feel that we need. Feel free to have a communal BooHoo. See if you can do it on finance.
As someone who spent 11 months out of work last year I have a bit more empathy than you seem to have for hundreds of people losing their jobs (whatever that job may be). Maybe thats just me but at a quick glance it doesn’t appear to be. Stick your boo hoo’s up your arse (and congratulations for finally working out how to use your own phone) x
Thats a bit harsh! I doubt very much that the sales people on the floor were involved in the finance at all. There would have been a "business manager" that put together the "offer". Plus all the garage techs that worked on the bikes and delivered them etc. Thats a lot of people out of a job. I think it's a shame for all them.
Nobody is forced to take finance we assume by the fact folks buying motorcycles have a full license, that they are adults and can make their own decisions. Plenty choices out there for borrowing money. Higher rates will be paid with a bad credit rating. Again, adults… That is a shit load of jobs gone in an already difficult industry. I wish ex employees best of luck with gainful employment without stress or a break in income.
I may be wrong (or might not) but if you worked for a company with a buy 'em cheap, stack 'em high, take a kick back from multiple finance companies model and didn't know or care and know that it's your customer that ultimately pays for this with more expensive finance, I think that your moral compass might be in need of a reset.. I think that finance (not specifically in this case) is becoming an issue these days. For example, I was mulling buying a new car. Finding out how much a new car actually cost is very, very difficult as everything is so much a month or week, like that is all that is important. Never for how long and what is the total because it doesn't matter. All you should care about is the cost per month. The End. DONE, FINITO, CAN YOU AFFORD THE MONTHLY PAYMENT IS ALL YOU NEED TO WORRY ABOUT. Even when I bought my BSA for cash, the guy is commanded to go through all the finance spiel while I have already told him I don't want finance as I am paying cash. I have to as they are the rules we have to follow! As I am happy with my car and have a bike that I like (plus Ducatis to get back on the road) I will actively avoid talking to salespeople for the rest of my days. I'm happy with that!

Many people are just pleased to be in employment, with limited choices available to them. Just had a conversation with a good friend at the weekend, when we stopped for a coffee on a ride out. He is ex motor trade. It seems that there is a lack of respect for those that work in sales. People forget how hard they work, to achieve a deal, with prices always under pressure from consumers that want a ridiculous deal and fancy themselves as a bit of an Arthur Daley. Whilst the company in question may not have had a great reputation, that does not mean all employees were rogue. Far from it. Then, ask yourself why places like this exist? Because punters expect Rolls Royce for Mini prices. It has always been so. There are still good dealers out there. They tend to chargé a premium. For that you get more peace of mind.l
