So, here is the rear sprocket. I measured the seat height and if anything it is a couple of mm over 790mm, hard to be exact. Checked front forks as per the blurry diagram and forks are about 2mm lower than stock. Can't sort the front compression damping as I don't have a socket the right size for the axel nut.
Actually I can't remember if it spins once you have undone the pinch bolts. I'd give that a gentle try
So your rear eccentric appears to be the correct side of the horizontal which is a good start........apart from the rusty chain covered in shoit!
well its one less thing to be wrong amongst your catalogue of issues...... although its not directly responsible for ride height......thats still with the tie rod that looks short....
So, 28mm socket arrived, compression was already set to standard 12. However this little puppy doesn't fit. It's not the original toolkit, I picked it up off someone on here. So I tried to tighten it up with a screwdriver up the hole but I didn't feel right so I took it out and its twisted again. Going to file the edges off the tool/bit next fine day Increased ride height about 5mm.
The one in the toolkit is crap, here's a better one for a tenner; Laser 5338 - 25mm Ducati Front Axle Alignment Tool - Machine Mart
At a pinch you can use a spanner that is the correct width and that will go in the slot for the wheel spindle and the alignment hole in the forks. I have had to do this when I have not had access to the correct axle alignment tool and it works fine.
Never used one, simply lined up on installation with the end of screwdriver or similar. People spend too much on 'special' tools IMHO
I'm ham fisted enough, spending a tenner. Seem to be spending a lot of tenners at them moment. About to spend another tenner on paraffin so I can scrub away my guilt complex over that chain.
Mate, you can't be more hamfisted than me, I survive with gaffa tape, cable ties and assorted hammers
insert axle in wheel and fork lowers. Spin on nut and nip gently. Turn axle to desired position with knife fork spoon screwdriver Allen key or whatever you like and then nip up axle clamp bolts on non nut side. Tighten axle nut to desired settings then final nip of axle clamp bolts.
