And I've not even had time to figure how to get under the seat yet. Are the side stands supposed to go quite far forward and lean quite a bit? (pics to follow)
need to ask my 9yr old if that's a good thing or bad thing, he likes reading children's story's. good job i is busy, don't have 5 seconds to spare for a reasonable come back.
Yep, they lean quite a bit on the stand. Some people hate that, me I like it. The seat is opened via a key on the LHS of the bike roughly behind your knee when sat on bike. (Or you can wiggle your hand underneath the seat unit, find the cable and give it a tug). Some people mod the sidestand by adding one from an 1098 or 1198. Note the bike has a sidestand switch to stop you riding off with the stand down. Some people loop this switch to disable it. I have as my habit is always to check the stand anyway after a nasty incident once on my old GS750. Now I have sidestand reflex syndrome.
Well I found the key hole to take the seat off but nothing happens. I assume this is because it is a BP with a single seat unit stuck on.
It lifts from the rear. Put key in and wiggle whilst putting a wiggle to the rear of the seat. Even Bip seats lift up. They all do. The hinge is nr the tank.
nope should open , dosnt matter if it is a mono seat or twin seat, should click and lift up from the back, should have a tool kit under the seat
Here you can see the cable and the lock. Sometimes the cable can get kinked or seized and make opening the seat a pain. Just reach under, find cable and give it a yank.
life has left me better off by being a sudo idiot,. no one likes a smart arse. not thinking of anyone in-particular. :Angelic::smile:
Well what do you know, the whole rear end comes up. I think I need to take what I have learnt from 25 years of Jap ownership and throw it in the bin. Those crazy Italians!
Unplug the lights and pull two little pins and the seats completely off. There the easiest bikes in the world to work on, in less than ten minutes you can have all the plastics off including the nose, my sons honda takes two to three hours. Steve
Remember CR, it was designed first and foremost as a race bike. That they bunged lights on. Once you accept this all its foibles can be forgiven. The race bike with lights buttoned on as an afterthought is more true on Ducati sports bikes than it is on japanese bikes. Generally, although there are always exceptions. The only useful part of the tool kit is the c-spanner to adjust the chain with. However its nice to have one.
