What are people using to protect the paint on their 1200 monster’s tank. Mine has a black stripe through the centre of the tank and is getting noticeably marked by my jacket when riding. The tanks shape makes me think conventional adhesive protection like those made by Puig wouldn’t be successful as the tanks contours don’t lend themselves to the nature flow of the stick on protective pad.
You could always have some clear ppf fitted. It’s a lot cheaper and will go well with a cheap utilitarian model
Anytime and I’ll do it on the Scrambler so you have a fighting chance Except this week as I’m off to the Emerald Isle on Thursday
Oh yes good luck with that, fingers crossed it’s a dry one for you. Don’t forget to post up some lovely pics of Co Sligo
Already done it Clear helicopter tape (daft name) applied to the highest profile part of the tank on the black stripe. Looks good and will protect the paint from future wear. Thanks lads.
During the Vietnam War, our cousins needed a way to protect and extend the life of helicopter rotor blades. The rotor blades were being damaged by flying debris during landing and take-off. The military received a solution for their problem in the form of helicopter tape, a thermoplastic urethane that could be applied to rotor blades for protection without hindering performance.
I didn’t know that, thanks. If it’s good enough for the mighty American army then it’s certainly good enough for my humble motorcycle
