Mine passed noise testing at Thruxton but it is not as quiet as standard that is for sure and quieter than many Harley’s. The upmap smoothed things but did not add any power that I could detect. With the way speed limits and their monitoring is going having a powerful bike achieves nothing as it can only be exploited on track if you value your licence. 100 hp is way more than you need to ride to the speed limits, that said inadequately silenced small capacity bikes can be very antisocial and are probably more numerous.
I went with an Akrapovic can on my 1260S , Black Friday deal from Calsport ( still £820!) I then bought a dominator cat delete pipe ( around £130 posted from Poland ) sounds absolutely stunning !
Oldish thread but I had to chip with only my second post on the forum as I've not long since had a Termi system fitted to my 1260S. Is it worth it? Emphatically yes. But it's not worth paying full dealer price with the Ducati map because the map the system comes with has to be Euro 5 compliant and it's crap. They need to be custom mapped to restore the midrange as the supplied map leans it out too much and leaves it feeling flat. I had mine remapped at BHP-UK in Burnley and it transformed the bike. If you can buy an import or used system, fit it yourself and take it straight to a dyno shop and get it mapped properly.
interesting post, I run a 1260s with Termi and upmap, I would not describe it as flat but have not got anything to compare it to other than standard but, my Termi was fitted after the initial run in period and cannot remember what the standard bike was like. I have seen a few YouTube vids on BHP tuning various bikes but not seen one on the 1260. Do you have any dyno maps showing the gains? I still miss the way my 2014 1200s delivered it power - it had a certain rawness that appealed. It also had a termi but a MR map on it.
I bought mine as a stock five your old bike with 5K on the clock, so fully run in and loosened up. I felt after having the Termi fitted that it had lost urgency in the midrange and gained a bit of power up top, which wasn't where I really wanted it, and then only at large throttle openings. I spoke to BHP-UK and they confirmed that the up-map had to be Euro 5 compliant and that meant leaning it out in the rev range and at throttle openings where the bike will be ridden most of the time, in order to reduce emissions over the lifetime of the bike. By correcting that it felt very noticeably more responsive and aggressive. It's also smoother and now pulls higher gears from lower revs. It will pull 6th from below 4000 rpm. I don't ride like that but tried it just to see how low it would go. Big difference from stock. The gains in raw figures aren't huge - though bear in mind that my remap was with the Termi already fitted, so represents gains over the Termi with approved map to Termi with custom map. Not stock pipe to remapped Termi. The benefit is in rideability, eagerness to rev and instantaneous response to small increases in throttle opening.
Just had a Quick Look at BHP YouTube and can see a multi 1260 DVT remapping with a slip on Termi but not the decat full system Termi. Apparently There are some useful gains with the slip on in terms of riding smoothness and power delivery but the data shown compares the BHP tune to the standard Termi slip on pike peak performance not the 1260 pike peak with the full Termi system with Ducati upmap installed. I would be interested to see any data you have. Cheers
As you'll see from the graphs, my Diavel is making 3 bhp more than the Pikes Peak Multi in the vid above, so in line with Ducati's claimed 165 bhp at the crank with the Termi system and up 5 bhp on the Termi with supplied up-map. But again, the headline figures aren't the real story. It's rideability, urgency and responsiveness.
I really appreciate you posting this info, very helpful indeed! I am out of warranty so will investigate this further. Cheers
Forgive my ignorance but can you tell me which map relates to which configuration, is the first map the full Termi with the Ducati upmap and the second plot with the air ratio plot the full Termi with custom map? If so what is the difference between the blue and red lines on each plot?
TBH I'm not sure what the second one means. In the first the blue line is the Termi with the upload map and the red the custom map. I forgot to get him to talk me through it at the time as ot was getting late in the day and I had a longish drive home. I didn't look at the graphs till next day when I opened my emails. All I know it's a big win from the seat of the pants dyno.
Fair enough, as you say the gains are not at the top end (rather redundant in the U.K.) but it certainly sounds interesting, thanks for taking the time to post. Cheers
He's a very helpful guy who knows his stuff. Got a fleet of his own bikes in the workshop, incuding Ducatis. Worth giving him a ring.
