Termignoni full system vs end cans

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by mooberts, Apr 8, 2012.

  1. Taken from their website-

'In our experience the following machines may NOT pass our strict limits:

Any make & model of bike with short type side silencers
Ducati 748/749/916/996/998/999, fitted with Termignoni open pipes
(but any of the above with standard pipes SHOULD pass)
    Ducati 1098R
    Ducati 1198
    Ducati Multistrada (2011)

Bike track days are open to all riders with a full licence and machines of 250cc and over. Bikes must be fitted with their original factory fitted silencer'

This put me off. On one had their saying you have to have the original cans fitted, but what if you bought the bike from new with a full system? Even if your bike passes are they still not going to let you on if you have termis because they're not standard?

If i can pass I'd be interested in doing one in Sept. Around the 12th.

  2. I do soo hope we don't end up back in the days of en-mass forum censorship, but if you do get sent to the naughty corner with your hands on your head....just tell them it was a big boy and he ran away.....

I'm sure it won't be like that but if it is, I'm certain I'll already be there with some others with our hands on our heads.

  3. That looks very prejudice Matt, do they allow any other minority groups entry? Those of a differing coloured skin...Gay...Lesbian...Disabled or those with alternate religious beliefs I wonder...

  4. I only raised it cos I read a few tracks were going to a normal of 102db and there is no amount of bullsh*t or throttling that would've got my full system through. And last time i went to my local track, boys that failed ridiculously got no refund.
That gotta hurt spending two days getting ready, dragging up with a van or trailer at stupid o'clock just to be told go home your toy is too noisy.

  5. I don't know.

The first papagraph in the bike section states-
"Bikes must be fitted with their original factory fitted silencer."

Then the noise testing paragraph states-
"If you are unsure if your bike will get through the noise test (i.e. if it is fitted with an after market exhaust system), then you can always come over to get the bike noise tested prior to booking a place."

So am I allowed after market or not?

  6. Probably worth reading the thread on donnington noise levels 1098r with full system in the other area that is ongoing too.
Fwiw I think if I had a sports bike now for track days I would stick with pretty end cans and save myself the worry of failing noise as big tracks like Donny r getting quite savvy with local council Involvement.

(ps yes I have a hyper 1100s with full 2-1 which stupidly noisy but they came fitted and I haven't tracked it and have no intention)

  7. It's Bizzare! that it just contradicts it's self like that...

I think the way forward is always ensure that the track will allow a full refund or noise test for free prior to paying, if they won't, then to be honest I wouldn't be gambling my hard earned cash on them letting me in.

At the end of the day it's only the circuit that are gonna be out of pocket and struggling in the present economic climate.

Croft Circuit near me, is all but f*ck*d cause of the locals complaining to the council about the traffic and the noise, two things to say to that....
    A) The circuit was there long before most of the current generation that have moved around it.
    B) I don't hear them complaining when their husbands, wifes or kids work there.

  8. No....yes......no.....yes......no...well maybe.....

  9. There is no Perfect solution but how about some nice "relatively quiet" sparks end cans or something similar and a pciii with a good custom Map to sort out the fuelling and low speed?

  10. And that's a whole new debate on itself. Pciii vs custom map direct to ecu vs nemesis chip.

Custom map for me every time.

  11. Interesting stuff, although tempted by the termis might leave the standards cans on at least until I have done a track day or two this year and got an understanding of the noise levels.

Surprised an 848 with termis could be a noise issue as I haven't honestly seen many without the termis!

  12. Yeah it's usually the first thing that gets changed...

  13. But look closely & see how many r running a full system. The expense alone usually takes most down the route of end cans.
