  1. My question would be what sort of power would an engine have had to make to run these without them turning the power characteristics of the thing into a two stroke.
Even with link pipes it would create a huge hole in the power curve, especially when you think that the 999rs was running 63.5 and that made buckets of power to take advantage of it.
Also the rarity must be up there as well.

  2. How nice are they!!! Love it

  3. My 916R (996 engine) had a 60mm system from the factory. It made 155 bhp at the wheel and a very good torque curve.

  4. thanks felix :)
would that have been a full system or a half system?
If it was a half system I can imagine the link pipe being like a set of trumpets.

  5. Full system.

  6. Never heard of a 916R......comments?

  7. 916 racing. Can’t remember now but might have been with the 955 engine.

  8. To be fair, the supersport Leo system (the one to have) for my 600rr is massive

  9. Was the privateer race bike of the time. It looked like the road bike but was not road legal. It was the forerunner to the RS bikes. The early versions had 955cc engines, later ones had 996 engines.

  11. Hope it is ok to bump an old thread.
My 916 Racing (955 engine) has a 60mm SKORPION "by Akrapovic" system.

I want to polish up the exhaust, but dont want to take away all the patina. Any suggestions?

  12. Won’t be easy with the cans but to get the pipe work looking like that, some Scottish brite on a small orbital sander will get you good results. Did the same on mine and leaves a nice dull satin finish.
