I'm quite happy to collude in the pretence that the North is friendlier, cheaper, warmer and generally ace compared to the South. Keeps all the Northerners up there.

 

My Dad was born in Rotherham. His family, on both sides were from the North west. Go back far enough and his ancestry was Norse - proper northern.
My mother was born in Herstmonceaux. Her forbears were from Sussex and Devon, ultimately, they were Saxons. Am I a Midlander...?
