Hi John Just waiting for the new ignition barrel/wiring now. I have no idea how this could have happened - on the wrong side of the fuse and even more amazed that it still ran with disintegrate wires and exposed wires - The bike must like me! Rgds G
Garret The ignition switch itself receives an unprotected cable direct from the battery (if you look on the wiring diagram it comes from 15 on the connector block, page 558 of the manual). That could well have had something to do with it. I haven't done it on my 1098 but on my Guzzi I fused the ignition feed at the battery to prevent a meltdown. I would think a 50 or maybe even 40A in line fuse on that line is a good idea, but that's just me. If one wire in the loom starts to glow it just melts everything else in there and it looks likes loads of wires have failed when the fault could well lie with just the one. John
Hi John I think that is the most sensible thing to do and I suspect you are right - one went and took all with it. I will put a fuse on this unprotected line from the battery. With grateful thanks. G
