The Cyclists/ebikers

  1. Todays ride was mainly off road with a steep hill, which is mainly in my head. Absolutely smashed my previous time up the hill, I need to try it on my road bike. It was too cold to wash the gravel bike when I got home, so it’s in the garage covered in mud.

I also used for the first time my new Rehook tool which my youngest bought me for Christmas.

  2. it's good to read that (hopefully) all your joints survived the above steep hill.

I, stupidly looking back, decided to cross the north downs twice (without standing on the pedals) in one day when i was cycling regularly around 15 years ago. There is a particularly steep section near Shere that all cyclists love to conquer. I upset my right knee badly as a result leading to bursitis - I couldn't even get my trousers on! Although tolerable for the most part, it's never been the same since.

  3. All joints survived, thanks. I’m planning a LEJOG this year so I need to be careful with my 61 yo body whilst increasing my stamina and endurance ability.

In previous years there has been a guy who used the same hill for his Everesting challenge for charity. IIRC he usually does it over an August bank holiday.
