A few years back I saw a Ducati MH900E at Brighton and knew I would like to have one.A few years later I bought one from a bike enthusiast in Cumbria.Hired a van,and with wife alongside went and collected it.All shiny and new the guy had parked it on the lawn outside his cottage-as soon as i saw it I was hooked.I have had it for 2 years now and I still want what I have. The pity is that due to poor health my riding it will not be possible in the not so distant future and I will have to sell it.It's a beautiful machine just to look at,but not to be kept locked in the garage just for me to look at. Sorry for ramble!
That is not a ramble, just a shame you have health problems. I hope it is something minor. I think the MH900E is a beautiful bike and one of the best things about them was that they were not cutting edge technology when new so who cares if now they are 90bhp off the pace instead of 70 or that the toggle thrust adjusters dont have the latest silicone flanges etc.
Hi Dukesox.Nice to hear from a fan of the MH,it is not to everyones taste I know. When I first got the bike I decided that I would only ride it now and again-that soon changed after I rode it for the first time.I came back from the ride with a big grin on my face, never before had I had such fun on a bike, except when I started out on two wheels. The only criticism I have is that the riding position is a bit extreme and more suitable for a younger rider. But as I get the grin as soon as I get on I don't have to travel far to get my Fix! My wife convinced me to get a more sensible bike so I bought an 848 Streetfighter. That also has the grin factor.I hope I have a few more years before I grow up!!
Good to see the 848SF described as sensible, I`m presuming you went for the one with the shopping basket on the front mudguard ? And does Mrs Mervyn appreciate just how sensible the bike is? I recently sold my 900ss as I was finding it too uncomfortable on longer journeys and mainly ride a monster now but I also have an old Pantah for when I want to remind myself of the old days before suspension actually could affect ride comfort.
I like your choice of bikes.I almost got a Monster, but was offered a good deal on the SF.And yes I did get the top model with the shopping basket on the front, lattice construction carbon fibre. My wife thinks I have a thing about red bikes but is sure a bike with a sitty up position must be sensible and therefore must be just the thing for me!!
Carbon fibre latice shoping basket, a quality item. I was considering the Ducati tank bag for the monster but frankly the shopping basket sound sso much more classy! Shame some bikes have plastic tanks now, my trusty old magnetic tank bag was so easy to use. Never mind, must be progress.
