To Pani or.....

  1. I'm going to see how my test ride goes on Tuesday and if no good i might take you up on your offer.

On the other hand if all goes well what do I want them to do to it? I have read about changes to the rear sprocket. Map changes. Settings for the shock/swingarm?

Looking at an S model if that changes anything.

  2. It's a great bike straight out of the box, If you get the 'S' you'll be able to tailor the suspension to your own liking. In my opinion the bike is smooth enough with the 39 tooth sprocket and I suspect after riding a 999 you'll agree. I do find the 39 tooth sprocket that comes as standard makes the low down grunt and acceleration a bit stale but you get it further up in the RPM, the 41 tooth sprocket remedies this, but again it's down to personal preference . Try and squeeze a comfort seat out of them as part of the deal. It might not seem important but your buns will suffer otherwise and you'll eventually end up shelling out the £160 yourself. I suspect you'll love the Panigale.

  3. Looking at the specs it lists a different wheel between the base and S model but the overal bike weight is the same.

Is it purley a styling difference?

  4. Base model suspension is lighter than S which counteracts the lighter forged wheels.

  5. And the mudguard is red on the base bike, good for another 20 bhp at least.

  6. well, i did get from a 999 to a Pani... more comfy ? yes ? but easier to ride on a track? DEF... need the power? nope but it's nice... For sure : it will be hard going back...

tip 999: get raisers .. the 999 is longer more stretched..

if it's legs : even on the pani, get het race seat ( +2 cm) and just change the pegs on the standard rearsets for more grippy ones... bar raisers are fine to! :)

    enjoy the ride.. :)

  7. Incidentally, I fitted the Ducati Performance race seat last weekend. I did it because I was sliding all over the place on corners, but have been really impressed how much more comfortable I am.

Bum is a lot happier, but the extra height has also made a significant difference to how stiff my knees get, just that little bit less cramped has made all the difference (I'm 5'11)
