  4. Thought yours way the early version. Front was ok on mine but the ‘hinged’ bit I couldn’t get rid of, maybe your settings will help others :upyeah:

    Re rear spring, quite a few over the years have complained that upping the settings makes it harder and choppy and iirc they have corrected with a firmer spring which means you can have less firm settings so it becomes more plush.

  5. This thread is really interesting - I've owned my Enduro for a little over two years, put around 16,000 miles on it, done all manner of mods, improved it, and made it the bike I want. Even messed about with the Skyhook settings to personalise it to suit me. But in all that time I didn't even notice the nut on the top of the fork leg!!

    So yesterday I wound it all the way out, then all the way in to see how many turns there were. From memory it was about ten turns all the way in. I wound it out two turns (I'm probably well the wrong side of 100kg in riding kit), so I'll take it for a spin later and see how it feels.
     
  6. Oh, OK. So that's a full turn for each 15kg...? Will try winding mine in a bit further and see how it goes. Might need new fillings though as the roads have turned to shite.
     
  7. Preload won't affect the ride - the Skyhook damping can be wound off to improve ride if you're find it too harsh :)

  8. I've been reading this thread with interest...… :bucktooth:
    Being a numpty I thought the skyhook was "all" at the touch of a button. But if I'm reading this right, we still have to set preload manually on the right fork leg first, then that should get us in the right zone first before the skyhook does its thing ?
    Please feel free to tell me I'm all wrong :confounded:

  10. Would depend on springs I guess, progressive ones meaning if you have too much preload the ride is further in the spring stroke and therefore more linear as the softer bit is wound in. Or something like that.

  12. As I was going out for an 'essential' ride this morning I also looked at my pre-load. As Sam discovered it was set from the factory at half a turn. I wound it to 4.5 turns and the front was much improved on smooth roads but it became a bit choppy on poor road conditions so I've taken one turn off and I'll see what it's like next time out.

    Read my previous posts for winding out then back in for the front. Then read more to play with the rear electronic settings.

    Top tip, put it in Urban whenever you get on and off. It drops the back end...you can feel it sink.
     
  14. Interesting, it sounds like you're now on about the same front pre-load as me with my "half a turn for every 15kg" assumption.

  16. Just save all the guess work and take it to a suspension specialist and have them set it up for you for £50.

  17. Doesn’t work with these ime as they are not ‘normal’. Save your money, it’s free to have a play and needs no tools (once front is set) :upyeah:

  18. Adjusted mine yesterday and went in to the office on the bike this afternoon. Really noticeable improvement, and the bike is way nicer to ride.

    Mine was set way lower than it ought to be for my weight, so it was operating in the lower end of the suspension stroke, meaning the damping was compromised under braking. It also feels like that bike sits more level now, and even seems less inclined towards pitching forward under braking (although I don’t think it can be possible for that).

    Very happy with the improvement!

  19. Skyhook operates better on the middle of the stroke, I was told many times by various dealers. So stands to reason if the preload puts it in the right part of the stroke the bike behaves better

    I think this is why a heavier springs on the rear allows a plusher ride as the suspension isn’t overworking

  20. Jeepers, the more I read the more I get confused. Very new to this stuff, need to have a video tutorial. Anyone know a YouTube link or the like!!
