I don't get this current fad for 'no straps' bike loading, especially if the bike has a side stand, they're quick, easy, cheap and non-bulky. I wonder if some peeps just don't know how to use straps properly?

Straps load the suspension, the above and the like do not, so less stress on seals, bushes etc.
