TVR's

  1. No problem at all.

The Speed 6 is the same engine across all the models - Tamora, T350C/T, Tuscan, Cerbera and the Sagaris. The 4.0 ltr was the initial version and then they made the 3.6 ltr, the later cars have the benefit of more development and suffer less from issues.

All the comments are justified, the cars are hand built and TVR had finance issues for years which did mean they were sometimes not put together as well as they could have been. As mentioned the chassis can rot if not looked after but like anything if you do your research and buy with a level head you can't go wrong.

Mr C has highlighted that they are not for everyone, it's the type of car that you will either love of hate. But in terms of 'bang for buck' you'll struggle to find anything that gives the same performance and experience for the price they now sell for.

Looking at the values cars that have been well looked after and those which are rarer are going up in value (Mk2 Tuscans, Sagaris, T350’s in particular), buy yourself a good example and you could see some profit in a few years.

In terms of millage it's a bit unproven for two reasons - 1: Not many people run the cars as a daily drive, there are a few with higher miles (40-50,000 miles) but they are an exception. 2: Engine rebuilds are common, particularly on early Speed 6 models.

Essentially if you do buy you are buying a handmade car, with a unique engine that is essentially a race engine. It therefore isn't cheap to run and requires care/attention to keep in good order. They went bust for a reason, the business model didn't make sense as developing your own engine isn't cheap and getting the quality right is difficult. This is what makes them different from other performance cars, if you accept and acknowledge this then you are ready to buy ;-)

    Good luck...

  2. Yup a fair few. Parts are still being made and there is still a big following. The TVR race series is still going strong too.
