Twitter Trump

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by bradders, Dec 22, 2016.

  1. is that a thumbs up or a thumbs down for twitter and face book and the likes? i find they can offer some good links?

  2. Good or bad, it's a fact that they are replacing newspapers and other media, and in many cases, verbal and face-to-face contact.

  3. And that little gem was back in 2002 , just imagine what it is now !!

  4. Reputations are destroyed by false stories on twitter and Facebook. Jobs and careers lost. As soon as 'the band wagon' is onboard (insert appropriate 'offended' activist lot) it's outrageous how it quickly gets picked up by 24hr news.

It's not news. It's filler. And it's a huge problem.

  5. twitter, text and even posts on here can be a bad thing in that the are often sent in the heat of the moment without being thought through.
once out there and in writing it's hard to take it back especial for someone as proud/stupid as Trump, who seems incapable of apologizing. The damage that his idiotic words may prove to do is down right scary.
in the old days every thing a president said was carefully managed ( apart from with bush as he couldnt read or remember his lines) now they just blurt out what ever crap enters their heads.

  6. its just a scary if this place is representative of the public at large just how much faith is put in the MSM by some. obviously i have my chosen specialist subject but have we forgotten brexit already? levison and why it was set up? for all the teeth its got.
am i paranoid but can no one see the similarity in the MSM and how it control's the same way as J Edger hoover?

  7. No one believes in the MSM, fin, they just pretend to do so in order to twist you into little knots :)

  8. only on here loz only on here.

  9. finm when finally give me that job, I will be able to tie you in knots in person.

  10. there's no job for yah, but if your prepared to invest 50/50 and you genuinely think we could get along i truly believe we could take it to the next level. i was half way there already when i got proper shafted by an employee and ran out off puff 2years ago.
two things tho, i never back down from threats and, the sun, the express and the daily mail are banned from the workshop.

  11. Do you threaten people often ? ;)

  12. never. in real life i can spot the signs a mile off.

  13. Yes it is. However some news media were perfectly capable of making up false stories to damage people, even before Twitter came along, and frequently did so.

The sad fact is that there are many people amongst both writers and readers who care little about the distinction between fact and fiction. I get the impression they are more numerous recently, although I could be wrong.

  14. Fair doos there Finm , but ir is a bit odd how tho a few more folk are beginning to doubt the msm , even disbelief , so few are actually embracing the truth , seems just a little too far from their comfort zone , ( or vested interest )

  15. Indeed, and they reached possibly the front pages of a rag.

If I make up something pretty horrible about you, especially sexist, racist, sex crime, then post on twitter and pick up the right 'supporters' and in a matter of hours your reputation could be gone. Doesn't even have to be much, just a comment taken out of context.

Then its picked up by Ch4 or BBC and part of the 'news'.

Also no recourse, zero proof required and best case you may get it taken down when its too late.

Thats the modern world. Its a different one. :)

  16. P.s. which I wouldn't :)

  17. you know, the funny thing is i dont think i visited any of the new media recommended to me leading up to the reff. i didnt want to be brain washed by any dodgy propaganda. but seeing how the treat anybody posting pish on the sites i visit more fool me. possibly why i never post on em, bit of a lightweight compared to these people.

  18. This reminds me of the persecution of witchcraft in mediaeval times. Somebody could accuse you of being a witch, other would take up the cry, nobody would defend you for fear of sharing your fate, and obviously there was always zero proof. The victims could be arrested, imprisoned, tortured, and killed.

  19. The algorithms in the search engines, the sites you visit and who you link to reinforce a perceived idea of what it is they think you want. This shapes your view of the world and channels it along narrow lines.

Have a read of The Circle, a novel by Dave Eggers, for where we are headed.

  20. Except it is every village in the world now looking to drown you... ;)
