I can't believe they all hold (any/much) stock and maybe they just have an 'account' with the tyre importers from which they buy goods at trade prices when customer orders come in. Delivery to the customer might even be direct from the importer

But, of course, you need both good cash flow & good credit with the importer for that to be a successful model. Something that only the big concerns have.

I think Cambrian Tyres are the big wholesaler in the UK. They certainly used to be.
