Tyre Pressure - 996bp

  1. I had a Michelin pilot rear feel the same on my 748. I figured it'd been sat on a shelf for ages and gone hard.
But... You could try dropping a few psi to get the rubber moving around to generate more heat, or just lower the ride height a few turns (saves measuring but remember how many turns to put it back if it gets worse) or, check how good your shock is. A lack of damping can get the bike pitching around and feeling like it's sliding. My TL is terrible for this.

  2. I had something similar on my 996 when I got it. I had a couple of times, coming out of LH bends when under the power I "felt" as if the back end had slipped out on me. Proper brown trouser moment it was and really knocked my confidence. First time it happened I assumed I might have hit some diesel or something, but it happened a couple of times. It was that which got me looking into handling/tyres/pressures more. I was running the "performance bikes" suspension settings and felt fairly happy with how it turned in but they did recommend a 39psi rear tyre pressure. The tyres were old Diablo`s, not the super corsa`s and id no idea how long they had been on the bike. So my first step was to swap them out for some decent racetec`s. That improved things no end. I experimented with the pressures and upon recommendation tried 32 front, 34 rear. They seemed to work really well for me and ive not had the tyre "slipping" moment since.
