Ukulele Days

  1. I wouldn't normally just jump in on a conversation, but as I've been working in Musical Instrument distribution for 16 years, I thought I'd say that we import Kala, Lanakai and sell them by the container load to music shops. Uke's are great fun and affordable to, unless you want something special.

Any help or advice feel free to drop me an email.

    • Thanks Thanks x 2
  2. Tune a uke - 'my dog has flee's' :) Same tuning as the last 4 strings on a 6 string guitar (only the other way about)

  3. do you
do you supply the correct tuning equipment also?

  4. Yep we do ;-)

  5. i get you.. remove 2 strings, turn it upside down and you have a guitar

  6. sorry add 2 strings

  8. I'm a guitarist, been playing since 4 years of age, but proficiently since about 13 years of age and now this month I'm 40! Where has the time gone!

Anyhow, I'm not so much a uke man but I do enjoy a dabble in the office from time to time, we recently got a guitalle which is great fun but it's tuned to 'A' as opposed to 'E'

Same tuner for the Uke / Guitar can be used to ensure your belts on the Duke are at the correct tension :)

  9. i would never use a sledge hammer on my duke

  10. Some of the brands we distribute - Makala, Kala, Lanakai, U-Bass, Aquila strings, Cleartone, Crafter, Fernandes, Burny, Revelation, Furch, Hohner, Burns, Sonor Drums, etc....

  11. I just had my belts done at REPS Caldicot, hope they didn't use the guitar tuner method, in fact I'm sure they didn't :-/ :) Although have seen it done that way on 'youtube'

  12. tbh mate joking aside it is a perfectly acceptable way of doin em...

  13. I'm hoping to let onto a non-china (would you buy a Chinese Ducati?) higher end concert model.

That way, the belt tension has a better chance of staying in tune

  14. We're hoping to move soon and then I'll have my man cave (garage) to keep the Duke in. Next belt change will hopfully be done by me - I'll probably give the guitar tuner a go for getting the tension right.

From watching a few people online using them I figured it was a neat trick to getting them right. But to be honest I wondered how reliable it would prove to be.

  15. We've got tuners that retail from £5 through to £100 - I could use one of my rack guitar tuners which is acurate to +/- 3 cents. Basically as acurate as you could realistcially get without spending thousands! lol

  16. We also do hand made ukes from a company called Kremona, all AAA timbers and fittings - Pretty special bit of kit! (made in the Czech Republic)

Coco UKULELES Handcrafted European string instruments since 1924

(Concert model being made available first half of this year)

  18. Gretsch semi-acoustics are very cool.
Best enjoyed, in my view, with a slightly dirty sound and some delay for that huge semi-acoustic tone, in a sort of Cult idiom.

  19. Are we talking Japanse Gretch or USA? Like them myself, we used to do the Japanese ones many moons ago.
