  1.

  2. Don't worry about it. I've just spent £2800 having a perfectly good engine rebuilt to make it that bit better..
If the bike is a keeper and more than just transport, a whole different set of priorities apply. It can't be rationalised.
I've now realised I've got to have a second bike (at least) for holidays and general duties and having test ridden just about everything I can think of that might fit the bill I've settled on one that's going to cost even more than the SF, but its got to be done.

  3. AR50, DT50 & TS50 maybe ?
I love my streetfighter never getting rid of that, and in all honesty the 1199s is my last big spend so no additional bikes for me two is just fine :)

  4. Pray tell what have you settled on?

  5. Any offers lol ;)

  6. Nope, lots of low mile 10 year old Sportsbikes :)

  7. But I don't want a 10yr old bike :)

  8. Only if you give up smoking :)

  9. :p

  10. I managed 4 months 3yrs ago but then had a few probs so started again, but aim to give up this year, I need the extra money to keep the Ducati's on the road. :)

  11. Go for it at £70 for 190 that's a lot of service money being burnt

Or a few dinners out :)

  12. A new model liquid cooled R1200GS TE model (comfiest) which means no older than 13 plate which means 10 grand if I'm very lucky but budget for 11 minimum.
But I've tried the rest and nothing else will do. I need to find another 3 grand by the biking holiday season - April. So early starts and long hours is the only answer.

Also come to the conclusion I want something completely different to my Ducati so I'm not comparing them all the time. So that ruled out the Multi.

  13. Fair enough mate, Unfortunately I have become a Ducati diehard, I tried out yam 900 triple and the KTM duke for street bike didn't like either I like the styling of both but couldn't get comfortable sitting on them, so sticking with my 848 SF and going to treat that to some bling this year and complete remap.
As for sports bikes the only one that stands out as different in looks is the KTM but I don't like the way it looks.
Some of the jap bikes are nice but I don't want an inline 4 I like my V twins.

  14. I see no problem with making a bike your own, especially if it's one you plan on keeping for a while.

  15. I'm the same. I'm not keen on in-line fours. But I want to go on biking holidays, which can be tough on a bike, and relax without worrying that my one and only bike is getting wet and dirty and wrecked. I'd have another Ducati sports bike, a play thing and I'd love a dedicated Ducati track bike. But for touring I want a long term, high mileage bike that I'll enjoy but won't be too precious about.
I didn't like the KTM 990 Adventure I rode, not as a mile eater anyway. Tried a Triumph Explorer, which in many ways is a fantastic bike. Its very hard to fault. But unlike the 1050 triple which is very twin-like in character, the longer strike 1200 engine is closer to a four. Its feels quite soft and elastic down low and doesn't have the sock on the back of the head squirtability of the GS. But for people who prefer inline fours to twins the 1200 TEX is probably the perfect touring bike.

  16. Yeah I know but I could stop eating :) that's easier than packing up smoking lol :)
